Sharpton wants FCC to shut down Limbaugh's 'racist talk'

www.rawstory.com

It's no secret that Rev. Al Sharpton isn't a fan of Rush Limbaugh. Now Sharpton is hoping the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will finally do something about the conservative radio host.

Sharpton told MSNBC's Ed Schultz Monday that he conducting a series of meetings with the FCC to see if anything can be done to put a stop to what Schultz called Limbaugh's "racist-type talk."

I'm no fan of Rush Limbaugh either, however I am a fan of our Constitution and the 1st Amendment protection of "free-speech", thus I do not agree with Al Sharpton. In fact, there is very little to which I agree with Sharpton on.

I think he is not only a racist and bigot, but also a hypocrite who champions double standards and exploits political correctness to force his will on others. He seems to oppose justice, so long as justice interferes with his racist outlook.

However, I believe that he is free to do just that, so long as he doesn't prevent others from doing the same, which he apparently does.

If Al Sharpton doesn't like Rush Limbaugh, then Al Sharpton shouldn't listen to Rush Limbaugh, though he certainly shouldn't to impose his will on others.

I think that Al Sharpton is the very anti-thesis of what it is to be American and furthermore, he is the very anti-thesis to what he claims to be against. Sadly, I believe that the message he guises himself under, is a good message that should go out, though sadly Al Sharpton is perverting that message. I think that diversity, equality and [more importantly] liberty, would have a much better chance at thriving, if people like Mr. Sharpton weren't perverting the idea to suit their own flawed personal biases. In other words, it is people like Al Sharpton that are only getting in the way of any progress with the particular subject matter.

This latest action towards the FCC in regards to Rush, just underscores these points and points to Al Sharpton being the villain here, not Rush Limbaugh. While both men may be racist bogits, Rush isn't actively trying to impose his will on others (or subvert the Constitution, past maybe supporting those who do), to the best of my knowledge. Even if he was, it wouldn't get very far, as Rush's racism isn't politically correct. Sharpton on the other hand, does have a real chance at once again subverting justice and imposing his will on others.

I like you, don't care much for racist talk. I'm not political correct by any means and make a point that people know it. However, I am respectful and treat others as I'd like them to treat me. That's how it should be. Because we're adults.

Political correctness has run amok in America and the rest of the world. People often believe that political correctness should supersede our basic right to freedom of speech and the constitution. Like Al Sharpton does.

But guess what, it doesn't. When you hear some bad things on the radio, no one is forcing you to listen to it. The knob's only a few inches away. Change it. That's what any adult would do instead of whining about it like a little girl who isn't getting her way. Just get over it, people aren't always going to believe or feel the way you do. Sometimes it's dangerous, other times it's just plain stupid. Like in this case.

And let me ask you this, where was Al Sharpton when those bastard Black Panthers were intimidating voters? As a "non racist person" as Sharpton claims to be, he should be condemning it. But nope, not a word. (As far as I know.)

So guess what Al Sharpton, your "people" are exactly the same. Sure, we whine and gripe about it on forums and whatnot, but we're not trying to silence them.

Get a life!

To Spoon, starred and flagged.

"The FCC has a responsibility to set standards, to say the public can not be offended based on their race or their gender in this country"

Oh. My. God.

Since when do people have the right not to be offended?

These people make me so mad. If the FCC complies and throws the 1st amendment out the window, I'm leaving. America is slowly becoming Oceania.

"The FCC has a responsibility to set standards, to say the public can not be offended based on their race or their gender in this country

No actualy the FCC does not have that responsibility at all. No body has the responsibility to ensure that you do not get offended. If thy want to play that game though we can go that route. If this becomes the standard I want to see Al Sharpton protest when a black comedian makes a joke about white people on Comedy Central, BET, or any radio station.

Why is the FCC even entertaining this idiocy. I guess it is an attempt to make up for the fact that the "fairness doctorine" couldn't get through the legaslative process.

We can't have standards everywhere but when it comes to race,"

So here it becomes obvious. He has to keep creating issues to justify his little fiefdom. We can't have standards limiting other speech, just racially centered speech. So, what Sharpton wants is a way for his organization to silence those it disagrees with. It also wants a way to gain publicity. What this sets in place is a mechanism for Al Sharpton to keep coming out and saying, "look at the racism every where, you still need me." Then he can pretend to fight the good fight while lining his pockets.

I really hate how Schultz tries to paint all Republicans as racist. How in the world does one idiotic congressman suddenly equal,

....Republican congressmen have picked up on the the theme.

The congressman's remarks have nothing to do with what Limbaugh said. The two things are isolated from each other.

This is the type of thing that really pisses me off. To me Al Sharpton is no better than the worst o the corrupt bankers. He creates misery and tries to destroy the constitution just so that he can line his pockets. He ignores the fact that blacks are economically, socially, and politically better than at any time in America's past.

There are so many things I want to say. I just can not even form a coherent thought pattern. I don't listen to Limbaugh, and I don't think the President's policy are a form of reperations. However, I would never try to silence his ability to say such idiotic things.

Al Sharpton needs to get his rear end and mouth transplanted back to the positions nature intended.
Why anyone would give a bleep what the rev Al says is beyond me.
Another case of the media pushing false leadership.

I'm fed up with hearing the "R" word.

I'm offended by the term racist. It implies that by virtue of being white I must be evil.

It's time for the sensitivity police to do something about the "R" word.

Nobody should be allowed to use it.

I guess the good Reverand Al Sharpton has forgotten all the times he has used racial terms against non blacks.

This guy just needs to go away.

Far, far away.

I will say this: I don't like either Rush or Sharpton. They are actually similar in that they both play off crude political caracatures and irrational, inflamed emotions. It's a pretty filthy way to make a living if you ask me.

Fortunately, the ongong transformational impact of the Internet will, if all goes well, make sleazy characters like these two increasingly irrelevant. Why bother listening to some blowhard when you can hear intelligent lectures, commentary, and documentaries from thousands and thousands of truly talented amatures day or night?

This is an almost daily thing coming from the Obama Crowd lately. Howard Dean openly called for FoxNews and Talk Radio to be censored or shut down. It's amazing anyone listens to these control freaks.

Reality though is that Sharpton is being ignored, so he does something controversial to get back into the news. Nobody is going to give money to him to not be controversial. I don't see him as that evil, not in the way I see Obama and people like he surrounds himself with in their efforts to silence opposition. Sharpton is just a common street hustler. The Obama crowd are wanna be Dictators.

I think if 100,000 separate, random Americans were polled ten times over, you'd find the majority more offended by Sharpton than Limbaugh, time and time again.

This "action" is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

I personally hate the Hypocrite, a.k.a. Limbaugh, but I would shed my blood for him to be able to keep on doing his useless rants...

Freedom of Speech exists to protect unpopular, offensive, or alternative points-of-view, no matter how offensive they might be. If we only allow Hive-mentality, Sheeple, Mass-consensual, speech to exist, then there would be no need for Freedom of Speech protection, since all views would be consensual (welcome to the Global Village).

That is, basically speaking, the Agenda of the Socialist/Communist "Globalization": The creation of a Mass-Sheeple consensus on speech, and opinion, and the destruction of all Independent Individual imputes into the "Machine".

Sharpton, is obviously a UN puppet, a Communist, and a collectivist. It is people like him that will eventually lead us into the next Great War: The Individual vs. The Collectivized World Village.

Once again, the 3% of enlightened people will have to kick the "King's ass"....

This is extra strange siince Sharpton let a mob of racist Blacks into a New York neighborhood, Crown Heights, and murdered a Jewish scholar who was visiting from Israel. Sharpton whipped up the race hate by throwing a fit about an accident where a Black child was hit and killed by a car. The driver was a Jewish guy driving a rabbi to his destination. That was when Al was trying to cozy up to the Nation of Islam. Al Sharpton is pointing at Rush as a racist when it is Al who is the racist who actually has blood on his hands.

Pot meet kettle.

I wish he would disappear from media altogether....

Where would you go that is any better?

The people pushing this agenda are not just pushing it here in the U.S.

The Trilatteral Commision want, and have published that they want: a united Europe, Asia, and America. With a world bank over those.

I despise Limbaugh, but if we aren't allowed to shut up Fred Phelps
then Sharpton will have to suck it up...

I don't see Limbaugh out there with signs saying "Thank God for IED's that kill African Americans"
and posting thanksgiving prayers on a website for dead african americans.

Suck. It. Up.
