This thread I'm dedicating to Leif Ericson, Madoc, and the original explorers of the New World. The idea of Christopher Columbus is a Roman propaganda campaign. So I celebrate my pre-Judeo-Christian heritage with this song by a good NWBHM band, Saxon:

Saxon is awesome!

You've got good musical taste.

How is this a social issue?

I'm not sure how this is supposed to be provocative.

why does everyone forget that pride is a sin?
also why are so many people proud of things that they've got nothing to do with?

also what the hell is this thread for?

I don't know if it's in the right section, but the Saxon song seems to be about Scandinavian adventurers that discovered America before Columbus. Ever heard of the Kensington Stone?

I don't think it's a sin for a father to be proud of his son. How is that a sin? I'm not sure that I follow what you mean. The song is bout pre-Columbian explorers that discovered North America.

I think what that person is saying is that you shouldnt be proud of these explorers because you personally have absolutely nothing to do with them. Pride is something that should be reserved for achievements that you personally accomplished and not traits that you were born with and really have no true connection to.

For example: do you feel pride for having your hair color? Do you feel pride because of the hospital you were born in? Are you proud that you are so tall? Being proud of these things is a bit like being proud of some abstract connection you have to explorers, it all happened without your input. How could it be something that you feel a degree of excellence through achievement about?

Ok Ok. This really is a somewhat obscure concept and would require much explanation to truly convey. It essentially requires a thorough examination of pride itself, the ego and also identity in general.

Essentially, pride is not something that can be felt about something that is intrinsic or inherent in a persons history or character. Things like national pride, ethnic pride and family pride really are one of the biggest deceptions ever orchestrated by TPTB.

Pride can only really be felt in regards to something you have had an impact on yourself, something you had a say in determining. It can not be felt through circumstances that you merely fell into such as your skin color or ethnic history. How can one be proud of something that they have nothing to do with?

I am not proud because I am tall or smart. That is just something that was determined without my input. I am proud because of the book that I wrote, the invention I created, the speed in which I improved my 100meter record, these are the things that pride may come from, not skin color or heritage which all come from HAPPENSTANCE.

Why do you say that?

Thank you, that's basically what I meant to say. These explorers deserve more credit, and I am proud of them. People are quick to turn something positive into something negative sometimes.

I'm saying that because you suggest Saxon has been ripped off by Metallica.

So why does that make you think I'm 14?
I like Metallica man, don't get offended.
I didn't mean ripped of, just similar or influenced.

Take a look at each bands history, if anyone was being influenced by someone it is Saxon being influenced by Metallica.

If you were older, not a problem if your not, you might have a clear understanding of metallica's history. I'm assuming ofcourse, but I can tell you last year I took a friends son to metallica (my friend does not have as good as taste as I do). He was 13 at the time, before the concert he was moping and complaining that metallica is not that good, or heavy, After the concert he had a totally different perspective.

Check again how long the current band members have been in each band. Obviously Metallica has had to change bass guitarist, but that's it.

hmmm, a know nothing [gay]????? Maybe I was wrong. That language is immature for a 14 year old.

Are you aware that Saxon's first album is from 1979? Metallica's first album is from 1983. You sound like a major know-nothing faggot.

Just because Saxon first album came out in 79 doesn't mean anyone heard it. Metallica wsa influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Scorpions and a wave of British Heavy Metal bands such as Venom, Motörhead, Diamond Head, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden.

Saxon played with Motley Crue and Krokus in the States. Not exactly Metallica.

You're arguing a moot point. Can you prove that Metallica never heard Saxon? Dude, listen to their first album, it has riffs that sound like Metallica songs. I'm not just making it up. Have you actually listened to it? Don't call me a 14-year-old and disrespect me on my thread.
