Axe-wielding assailants arrived in six trucks at a meeting Mr Tsvangirai was addressing on Friday in Mvurwi north of Harare, his MDC party says. Mr Tsvangirai escaped unhurt but 11 MDC youths were injured as they beat off the attackers, Mr Nyathi said.

Attempt to kill Mugabe rival

Interestingly enough, Mr. Tsvangirai is awaiting the verdict of a treason trial in which he is accused of plotting to kill President Robert Mugabe. This is his second charge of treason.

It looks like it's going to be a violent election season. Oh, and Zimbabwe will probably see some trouble too.
