Snip
APPARENTLY having consensual sex in Sweden without a condom is punishable by a term of imprisonment of a minimum of two years for Rape

That was the basis for a recent revival of rape allegations against Wikileaks figurehead Julian Assange that is destined to make Sweden and its justice system the laughing stock of the world and dramatically damage its reputation as a model of modernity.

Sweden’s Public Prosecutor’s Office was embarrassed in August this year when they leaked to the media that they were seeking to arrest Assange for rape then on the same day withdrew the arrest warrant because in their own words there was “no evidence”.

The damage to Assange’s reputation is incalculable.

Three months on and three prosecutors later the Swedes seemed to be clear on their basis to proceed with a headline grabbing international arrest warrant. If consensual sex that started out with the intention of condom use and actual condom use ended up without condom, that’s rape.

Statements by the two female “victims” Sophia Wilen and Anna Ardin that there was no fear or violence would stop a rape charge in any western country dead in its tracks.

End snip.

I'd love to see someone leak the diplomatic cables between the US and Sweden now, I can only imagine the promises being made in exchange for these charges....

Hilary: "And, if you charge Assange with rape, we'll redecorate the White House in IKEA!"

It's character assassination on a grand scale. What's next, finding "child porn" on Wikileaks' servers?

They are probably suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and therefore cannot be relied upon to make reasonable decisions.

I mean really, if they were rational people they would be cooperating.

Governemnts around the world are lining up to PERsecute this man, these women are obviously confused about what is in thier best interests.

Lucky that thier government knows what's best.

So, in Sweden to get your wife pregnant, you have to rape her? As in not using a condom right? But if you approach a women and have sex with her against her will and you're gentle about it, but use a condom, you haven't raped her? They are making pretty fuzzy lines in Sweden eh? What ever happened to, "Hey baby, let's have some fun and do the nasty?"

Cheers - Dave

While this is particularly crazy, I am not surprised. An obvious set up of Assange, and one that makes us look bad. Now I know nothing about the law, but surely it must be a crime to trick someone into thinking protection is used? Rape it ain´t, but putting someone at risk it may well be. If I go to bed with someone have I then allowed that person to do whatever he/she wants to?

Sweden is still rather naive. And I will be the first to admit our judicial system sucks
