Feds Warrantlessly Tracking Your Credit Cards in Real Time

or credit cards, agents can get real-time information on a person’s purchases by writing their own subpoena, followed up by a order from a judge that the surveillance not be disclosed. Agents can also go the traditional route — going to a judge, proving probable cause and getting a search warrant — which means the target will eventually be notified they were spied on.

The document suggests that the normal practice is to ask for all historical records on an account or individual from a credit card company, since getting stored records is generally legally easy. Then the agent sends a r

It’s not clear what standards an agent would have to follow to get a “Hotwatch” order. The Justice Department told Sogohian the document is the only one it could find relating to “hotwatches” — which means there is either no policy or the department is witholding relevant documents.

The Justice Department did not return a call for comment.

Every year, the Justice Department does have to report to Congress the numbers of criminal and national security wiretaps undertaken, as well as the number of National Security Letters issued. Tens of thousands of NSLs are issued yearly — most with gag orders that forbid ISPs or librarians from ever saying they have ever been served with such a subpoena.

But the Justice Department does not report or make public the number of times it got real time or historic cell phone location information, nor how often it is using these so-called “hotwatch” orders.

and the companies that lend it to you must make sure it does not go towards criminal activities.

Justice Department? More like the Injustice Department!
Credit Cards? More like Loan Sharks!
Subpoenas? More like...uh

The idea is to not be worried about what the government does anymore. You have no control, and that's how they want it, and is how it is going to be from now on. Things will not get better for you, and nothing the government is planning to do will make anything any better either, unless you accept them blindly and believe it to be. The idea is now to figure out what you are going to do to stop it all, otherwise if you don't intend to make the effort before the revolution begins, then I suggest you just accept everything that is happening now and continue to be blind, because when the people fight back, we are not going to need anymore lazy and ignorant spectators who expect everyone else to do their bidding like we have now and is the reason for the systemic failure of the world.

I know. You =

Its ok. Just work on it. Soon enough the light will be so bright that even those without eyes will be able to see. Do something or do nothing, no one can judge if you are right or wrong except yourself. But what everyone can agree on, is that someone who does nothing at all is worse than both the fighting factions combined. I dont mean to criticize you, I'm just criticizing how you complain. ATS as a whole is generally this way. Telling everyone to wake up and get off their asses and calling everyone sheeple...sheeps can think too. What they can't do is act on their thoughts when it matters. We are all sheeple, some of us just don't like it, but it is not enough to say you don't like it.

Thanks for the information.

For a more complete picture of what is going on consider these other little tidbits:

Grace Commission Report: PRESIDENT'S PRIVATE SECTOR SURVEY ON COST CONTROL, January 12, 1984

...Mr. President, you have been so correct in resisting attempts to balance the budget by increasing taxes. The tax load on the average American family is already at counterproductive levels with the underground economy having now grown to an estimated $500 billion per year, costing about $100 billion in lost Federal tax revenues per year.

The size of the underground economy is understandable when one considers that median family income taxes have increased from $9 in 1948 to $2,218 in 1983, or by 246 times. This is runaway taxation at its worst.

Importantly, any meaningful increases in taxes from personal income would have to come from lower and middle income families, as 90 percent of all personal taxable income is generated below the taxable income level of $35,000....

# Another one-third of all their taxes escapes collection from others as the underground economy blossoms in direct proportion to tax increases and places even more pressure on law abiding taxpayers, promoting still more underground economy-a vicious cycle that must be broken.

# With two-thirds of everyone's personal income taxes wasted or not collected, 100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the Federal debt and by Federal Government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services which taxpayers expect from their Government.

So 90% of the Taxes come from the poor and middle class who are already struggling to make ends meet and are now going to get saddled with the additional costs of OBAMACARE and possibly Cap and Trade. The government knows as "tax increases [it] places even more pressure on law abiding taxpayers, promoting still more underground economy"

1. Therefore the politicians want a way to "capture" the money in that underground economy.

2. It goes without saying that Corporations hate competition especially from lots of small businesses who help keep the prices down. Price fixing is SOOOoooo much easier with 5 or 19 interlocking corporations.

3. With any type of loan, including credit cards the bankers collect 100% of the principle plus interest and don't "lend" you a darn thing. Not only that but as shown above the bankers and financiers get 100% of our tax money. (I am lazy so I put the explanation here ]

Therefore Obamacare included a really nasty little provision

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com)

An all-but-overlooked provision of the health reform law is threatening to swamp U.S. businesses with a flood of new tax paperwork.

Section 9006 of the health care bill -- just a few lines buried in the 2,409-page document -- mandates that beginning in 2012 all companies will have to issue 1099 tax forms not just to contract workers but to any individual or corporation from which they buy more than $600 in goods or services in a tax year

The stealth change radically alters the nature of 1099s and means businesses will have to issue millions of new tax documents each year.....

However the bankers (oops Congress) has left us an out. 1099 tax forms are not required if the goods or services are paid for by credit card.

Think what that means:
1. To cut down on paperwork small businesses will be forced to use a credit card instead of cash or a check..

2. I as a business owner who sells a service will either have to give out my SS# to all businesses who pay me over $600 in cash OR I will have to get a credit card machine and pay the banks a 5% "tithe" on every payment made to me.

3. Large Corporations will insist that employees must use credit cards for anything they get reimbursement for.

This will shove a heck of a lot more people onto the "grid" so they are easier to track and brings us one step closer to the "cashless" society that the bankers want.

Who controls the food supply controls the people; who controls the energy can control whole continents; who controls money can control the world. – Henry Kissinger.

The companies that lend it to you don't own the money either. What about the companies that lend it to them? And on and on it goes. Look at the mortgage fiasco for evidence of the lunacy.

Good comment though.
