Hey there members, I wanted to create a thread that encouraged peeps to post some tunes that they felt were soulful. It does not have to be from a
"soul" genre, but something that if asked what is soulful, you would think of.
I created a set list so that you can hear several songs with one click and it would be cool if you could arrange/post a set in a similar way. C'mon
Sound Clouders! But don't let that limit you, post however you'd like, but I think it would be awesome to click on this thread and here chunks of
music members have chosen to shine some soul for us all.
Here's mine:
Spec's Soulful Selections
Soul One - Blind Melon - One of their last recordings before Shannon's death, I love this band and No Rain is one of my all-time favorite albums.
Hard Times - RL Burnside - I just got turned on to this cat, a musician/storyteller that's been around a looong time. His words carry heavy emotion
and experience, and his nephew recorded him a few years ago. The music is haunting and soul stirring, a juxtaposition of old sound cradled in a
contemporary mix...hella cool!
Homeless - Sarah McGloughlin and Lady Blacksmith - Well Sarah's voice is an instrument of divinity, imo, and LadyBlacksmith you may recall from Paul
Simon's Graceland. This is the most beautiful acapella's I have ever heard and it makes my hairs stand up on end.
Watermelon(live)- Herbie Hancock - An extraordinary display of musicianship and feel good grooves. I love all of Herbie's projects, a true master.
Soul Shine - Allman Bros - A classic soulful song.....
Riviera Paradise - Stevie Ray Vaughn(rip) - This was one of Stevie's last recording before his death, he was sober for the first time in a long while.
He had the studio people turn out all the lights while he played/recorded this one. To this day this is my favorite piece of guitar work ever.
So what songs do think of as soulful?
Peace,
spec
