The Great Dictator, an excellent film, the final speech, as this scene is known, is a comentary over the human condition and fascism. A DEFINITE must have, so go download a copy. Lately our democracy appears more and more as a false fascade to cover the fact that we are victims of a collective fascism where the ultra rich are in control. Fascist societies are controlled by fear and impose misery, and always have an enemy to fight. They limit access of the non priveledged to basic social services such as health and education. Welcome to the third world, America!
Metropolis by Fritz Lang also is quite prophetic about our modern society also, and comes highly recommended.

My Mother has a friend.

A friend of the family.

His name is Michael.

He sais he is an Angle or rather Angel.

I didn't doubt him cause I just knew he was right.

It wasn't strange, just a confirmation of sorts.

He works out with my Mother in the pool to keep each other in shape and company.

It's sweet to watch.

No panky, just companionship.

The funny part is that he played the role of the 'young' Superman in the original movie lol.

I tend to have a different view. As this thread illustrates, the world has been largely run by this same group - and their heirs - since then. Since they are the ones who pull the strings, the 'good' people will rarely, if ever, rise to positions of authority, because they would not serve the interests of those secretly in charge. So they will be sidelined, held back. Thus we have a bunch of totally corrupt, selfish and ruthless politicians by design, not, I believe, by nature.

In fact, I would say that the majority of humans are pretty amazing. These guys have thrown everything at us, and still are (TSA, for example), they've brow beaten us, corrupted our youth, ruined our culture, demolished decent social values, broken down the family, impoverished us with lethal taxes, they've murdered millions of us in unwanted wars, they've poisoned us, bombarded us with radiation, EMF wages, sprayed poison in our air, drugged us and abused us in every possible way - and yet - most ordinary people are still decent, still have a capacity to love and care about others, still aspire to an end to this insanity, still want a world of peace, love, abundance and plenty.

I think we are pretty amazing, and it's time we took back our world and created it as we want it to be.

There is no way around that -- it is our nature, and so, there is no alternative but to always be mindful of who, when and where the power tripping is happening, the system is getting skewed by those to their advantage; etc. etc. and then do something to stop it or curb it -- over, and over, and over again.

I think it is our nature to care about one another and live in peace, but these people have held the power for so long, we believe the world they have created reflects humanity as a whole. I no longer believe that to be the case.

We will never be free of this scourge on our personality and character. We will always be fighting this fight.

We will always need the Charlie Chaplins in this world to do that battle for us or at least to stir us to action; ever once more.

I believe we can and will be free of them. Once we are united, their power begins to evaporate. We are much, much stronger than they want us to believe.

I think the fact that they never found Hitler's body was a good indicator that he went under some kind of witness protection program courtesy of CIA of course.

In regards to OP- Charlie Chaplin was one of the greatest and most influential actors of his time. Weird to see him speak, I only mostly ever watched his silent films. It was weird watching this one. Has anyone else noticed that he didn't blink (or barely did?). He sounded very passionate. The movie looks like a spoof of the Nazi dictatorship, so I am assuming it's inspired by true stories. Very cool... gonna go look for the whole film to watch.

Yep...... that would be the other movie of the early part of cinema that was WAY ahead of it's time. Another must watch.
