Isnt the Wiki-Leaks a hero site a whistleblower that should be protected under the whistle blowing statues? Like Linda Tripp? I don’t understand why some feel this is some horrible breach of security or anything criminal. It shows to me criminal activity and unethical government practices of at least the state department.

Also things that should be reported to us anyway about China and Korea and Russia

Why are we not upset it takes a leak to properly report to the people. This is not anti gravity or harp secrets or stealth or NRO spy satellite blue prints. Most of this stuff shouldn’t be classified at all.

The government wants more and more control away from transparency and over classifies everything its wrong.

People aggravated in NASA slow disclosure and press conferences about stupid crap like microbes come on. So you demand more from NASA and not from the whole government?

Why does it take someone like this guy to bring the truth and then we are all shooting the messenger? Why not appreciate the messenger and demand our govt be more open its our government we pay for it.

The apache helicopter killed the reporters and innocent people. I don’t feel that was criminal it was a friendly fire and miscommunication and accidental but it should have been reported.

No soldiers are being killed anymore or less due to this info. So that is a BS argument.

1. Then I don’t get this last thing here. How did some Private First Class Army Kid get all this information anyway doesn’t that sound really ridiculous?
2. Why did a supposedly a hacker turn him in. A HACKER OR SO CALLED HACKER what is a hacker but an agent of truth ect.. and how did he turn him in so was this a Govt hacker and not some War Games Hacker kid.
3. Where is all the explosive information most of this is no surprised to any of us at all there is no great information at all nor is it of any value or any threat.
4. What about the Secret and Top-Secret info why was that not released I mean come on if your going to whistleblow and make a big fuss then do it right and put out all the information the best stuff first.
5. Why are people calling for his arrest under the fake rape allegations aren’t people smart enough to see what is going on here I mean come on. Remember the X-Files Movie & the author told Fox Molder what are they planting on me this time kiddy porn? To silence him?
6. Wiki guy was trying to work with the government in this they refused.

Last why are we not owed this information and why are we not calling for investigations and calling for resignations. The congress should have real herings on this and heads in the govt should roll.

Remember the Valerie Plame and her husband who lied about his mission, who sent him, findings everything and she lied about her status, who sent him, her involvment and everything. Then Richard Armitage leaked the name not Karl Rowe or Libby. The Patrick Fitzgerald Prosecutor knew this first day and told Armitage not to say anything and then played a game for 2 years trying to catch someone for lying.

Plus the CIA said she wasn’t undercover and Prosecutor said no crime in the name leak.

So the Plame’s Hero’s ? Richard Armitage is a Hero and Libby a Criminal?

We have this backwards.

We need to demand hearings into this and this Wiki guy should be protected by law. He is the messenger and we missed the message here I think.

He gave us all the truth and I guess we don’t care or cant handle the truth.

Do want to be lied to?

I think people like lies. Lies give people a sense of protection or illusion, lies are comfortable, nothing needs to change on your part. Truth is uncomfortable, with truth you will have to adjust and shift hence people will go to great length to avoid it.

I agree with you, the truth hurts when people discover the misconduct in our government; and then the government tries to cover up their misconduct and try to make a criminal out of the person pointing out their misconduct.

All I can say, is when they finally find Assange and he goes to court, like everybody knows he will be taken to court; then everybody all over the world had better stick up for him, and they had better pack in that court room and stick up for him, and they had better protest outside and tell the world who should really be taken to court; not an innocent man, but the people that aren't innocent that he has pointed out to the world that have gotten away with criminal acts.

Thank you, thank you for that clear thinking and common sense. So few people are even bothered by the crimes that are being exposed - they just want to prove WL is lying. Incomprehensible.

TextWiki-Leaks isnt this a whistleblower hero exposing criminal & unethical for accountabilty?

no, at least not yet. i am still waiting for them to release something with enough meat as to bring about awareness of the true magnitude of crimes/lies being commited against people.

all they are currently doing is targeting america mostly, and while some of the leaks are interesting most of them are just 'yeah what ever', all they will do is stir the pot, and we do not know at this point if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

in terms of making people aware of things that could lead to change, well i am still waiting to hear that, and believe we may never hear anything on that magnitude.

so it is just a case of stir the pot, but nothing that will cause people to call for real change, and we do not know where stirring the pot will lead, so i cannot say hero at all.

hero to me means somebody who prevented your downfall, not made it worse or caused it to happen quicker, or who helped bring it about. so we have to wait and see how it pans out, and what else is leaked.

Yes, the same way we stood up for all the people that had the courage to speak and tell the truth in our history. Like Jesus, Socrates etc etc etc etc
Somehow we don't like truth. Only many years after when its no longer a threat to the status quot, we accept it, distort it and use it our own agenda.

(I know, he is no Jesus, but he is somebody who stands for truth and freedom of information)

Hero? Not a hero?

That's in the eye of the beholder.

He is supposedly of genius intelligence, so he knew he was playing a very dangerous game, and what the consequences could/will be...

I dont know a whole lot of details other than it has been all over the news, and there are about 15,000 threads on this site.

My number one common sense thought on the whole friggen issue? Don't we pay billions in taxes per year to keep sensitive government info top secret?

People should be throwing their hands in the air and saying HOLD ON! "What the hell are you government doing over there"?

It seems like a peculiar tidal wave of finger pointing at this Assange and his websites.

If not the top secret info they claim to "reveal" at least its serving as a gauge showing us more government mismanagment. And we get yet another glimpse at their blind reaction of we did no wrong thats the bad guy get him.

the point is if anyone is guilty here the government is equally if not more guilty for failing to secure our intel.
This could have been a true enemy data mining for wartime advantages.
