I don't know where all of you live, but here in NC...it's pretty good. Yes, we have a recession/depression right now...but it is part of the normal cycle...about every 30 years or so...look at history.

I have started over 3 times in my life from almost nothing, and each time...my climb back has been better than before. That's why I love America.

I don't take that many vacation days because I work. I am a manager at a farm staore, have a farm, and do odd jobs on the side...like sell firewood. I made over 100 bucks the other day from 2 loads. That is why I love America.

Point is, your life here is what you make it. I think 12 days vacation is enough... frankly, I get antsy when I sit around too much, just like my father and mother. Both were born dirt poor to dirt farmers, now they are retired and have a pretty good life. Although retired and 81 and 76 respectively, they still cut 2 yards, garden, and are involved in the community. That is why I love America.

They sent me to college, and I am sending my kids to college. My daughter went aslmost free from making good grades and scholarships. She worked hard and is now reaping the rewards of her hard work. That is why I love America.

!2 years ago, I was sleeping in a barn...I now have a farm house on 50 acres, a place at the coast, and investments, a family...it didn't just happen, and we do have our problems...that is life, but again, life is what you make it.

Maybe you guys should move to NC, work a couple of jobs like me...enjoy the fruits of your labor...and work some more. To get ahead in life, you have to work hard....like my mama said, " A little hard work never hurt anyone."

You can be anything you want to be and do anything you want...I've tried to always teach that to my kids... and it is true. That is why I love America.

Just reading some of these replies just shows how dumb, brainwashed or both some americans are. The reason this country sucks is because it was founded by a wealthy elite who murdered and made slaves out of people of color. The only difference nowdays is instead of murder, we just imprision people(more than all other countries combined by the way) and slavery is stronger than it's ever been. Salvery was never done away with, it was just restructured.

Why pay for housing, food and health care of a slave, and more importantly, why just limit it to black people. Let's just give them all credit, that they can never pay off and let them pay for these things themselves, with interest, while they do their work also.

My brother is in Germany working for Dyncorp. He told me the other day that he cant understand how they ever get anything done in Germany because of all of the sick time, vacation time and "personal time" they get off from work.
If they get stressed out at work (for example) the doctor can write them a prescription, for time off work..

Here, in the US, you would get a bottle of valium to shut you the hell up.

It would be nice if everything in the world was free. It would be nice if we all had cheap food, cheap housing, cheap medicines, cheap everything...hell, let's just give it to everyone for free.

Problem is...where does free come from? Who is gonna grow and process the food for free? Who will give the diesel and fertilizer for free....or ship and store for free all of this free food?

Where does free lumber come from to build free houses? Where are the free electricians and plumbers that learned their trade for free?

Where are these great jobs that no one can get?

If you want something for nothing...then read and learn and become self sufficient... move to some free homesteading land...there actually is a very little bit left in the great NW US...and move their and live free. Build your free house...grow your free food...cut your free fire wood...raise your free livestock...you can do that for free....there's just one problem...IT TAKES WORK.

Can't do it sittin on a couch watching mindless TV or sitting in front of a computer whinning about how hard things are...you'd have to get up and work...even for yourself, you'd have to WORK...not for a living, but now to live.

Patriotism and Loving your country are simply ways to get you to die for the government. You're fighting over DIRT. You're fighting over dirt that had a different name hundreds of years ago, and will have a different name hundreds of years from now (Or decades the way things look now).

People can spend their whole lives 'Loving and Defending Their Country' but in the end it is entirely meaningless. It will be a different country one day with different people "Loving and dying" for the same dirt. All the wars fought for the USA will be meaningless once it's not the USA.

Humans think WAY too short-term on this planet. I think anyone with a mind will agree that the USA will not be around forever, but for the sake of argument - let's say it does. Eventually the Sun WILL go Supernova and take planet Earth with it. When that happens, all the wars, racism, hatred, greed and corruption all in the name of money and/or your country you love so much will mean absolutely nothing, because America and all surrounding lands will be gone forever.

I totally agree with the article, America has become a sad farce and is but a shadow of it's former greatness. Somebody stole the government so it's a little hard to blame the people for something that happened behind their backs and is so well hidden that few would ever have a chance to discover how, when or by whom it was done.

Our financial success has been our undoing. It has made us fat, lazy and irresponsible on civic matters.
It has financed the construction of the information/control grid that runs America today.

Our Constitution, the greatest document ever penned by the hand of man has been relegated to the history dust bin and replaced by Corporate mandate and executive decree.

As others have said, we have the potential to be the greatest nation of earth but only if we can restore our Constitution to it's rightful place - the supreme law of the land.

It is the promise that the Constitution holds that I will fight for. To paraphrase Lincoln "it is the world's last, best hope". Thank God things cannot possible keep going at the current rate before something serious breaks. We are fast approaching a nexus which will determine the future of the US and perhaps the world.

If we can rid ourselves of the real enemies of freedom we might just stand a chance. But know that they are hiding behind layers of security, money and police and military protection. It will take real sacrifice to peel these layers back to bring the real culprits to justice.
