Actually - Big Blue will probably take it with a smile and a nice check to put in the bank. IBM is key in the Cell processor that powers the PS3.

As others pointed out - this is actually from last year.

The air force has a cluster of 300some-odd PS3's and are expanding it.

This is just to sell Ps3's, there are much more powerful computers than Ps3 out there these days, it might have held true in 2006 or 7 but right now our PC's have far exceeded the Ps3's power.

This story is probably to sell more Ps3's.

oh really? Care to explain to me what other computing devices have six processors built in dude? Because that'd be some VERY good news to me man, I'd buy one.

Maybe all the PS3's are for all of the top dollar officers, they can play Modern warfare, and black ops while flying drones into war.... just remember this, our tax dollars pay for this crap, dont mnind the national debt USAF!!!! I wonder if they are going with the new Motion...

The amount of threads means nothing by itself. The PS3 is an outdated piece of hardware by todays standards, that is not to say it does not serve it's purpose of course. But your average middle of the range PC stomps all over it.
