The people at fault here are the US Government for NOT having a secure system or not vetting their personnel better.

You cannot blame someone who is giving out information third hand.

a completely naive assessment if you truly believe that.

LOL.

What I'm talking about makes the threat of "compromising military" seem very small.

>>The REAL THREAT, is that the lack of transparency in our government and secret services, means that corrupt politicians and agents can be compromised by OTHER COUNTRIES or actually -- MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS. The most powerful countries have leaders who pretend to be rivals but they really fear their own populations more than any invasion. Palestine helps keep the Likud party in power. North Korea fires off a missile every time we need to keep bases in Japan. Iran makes empty threats against the US every time their citizens start protesting their government and we respond with military movements that empower radicals and compromise any Democratic moderates they might have.

Child molesters, people with graft, corruption and blood on their hands GET PROMOTED when you do not question authority. Or is it just an accident that the Pope covered up the molestation of a few thousand deaf kids? He probably got voted up by everyone who had a "bad habit."

In the USA -- the crooks felt very comfortable with Bush in office making the FBI chase its tail instead of actual corruption.

Your charge of Naive, is what all the "America over all -- grab your guns -- pro military" folks always say; anyone who believes in peace or in having HONOR where we don't break the rules is naive. The most powerful influence America has is the "American Dream" and every time our troops enter a country in Latin America, the fledgling Democracy becomes a fraud that covers a corrupt cabal of capitalists who run things.

The revelations that the State Department is bugging and collecting DNA from Diplomats just shows how paranoid and sick we've become; if you CANNOT be trusted -- you trust nobody. Not that foreign countries aren't also being sneaky. People who are sick at heart -- FEAR that everyone else is like them. But we are in luck -- most of the world is people who just want to be left alone to raise a family -- but if you do not have faith in people, and only force -- that is likely because YOU cannot be trusted.

People driven by fear of "others" are easily manipulated. The "constant threat" is really a convenience to make sure our Oligarchs can divert funds that might educate kids, treat people in hospitals, or feed the poor and use it to make weapons to procure cheap resources and lower wage jobs. The "BENEFIT" of our military, goes to the Multinational Corporations who own our politicians.

Our "Leaders" will soon be calling for "austerity measures" to deal with the debt. While we gave trillions to the people who engineered the derivatives collapse, we now ask Civili servants to tighten their belts. The man who inspects your bridge will be making only $45,000 -- someone who has a lot of technical knowledge and responsibility. The "overpaid" government worker is mostly a fiction. And these dedicated civil servants are about the only thing left that is working and not fully corrupted in Government.

In this technology driven age -- you cannot SAVE PENNIES and get yourself out of debt. Using a shovel instead of a bulldozer means that you produce less than you eat -- you cannot compete on cheap labor if you want your standard of living to rise. We solved this problem quickly after WW II; high tariffs on imports so that industry had to produce goods here and pay local workers, and public works projects that built the infrastructure that we take for granted. High tax on the wealthy, to make them pay for their benefits and cost shifting -- and ALSO, because concentrations of wealth and power are not good for a Democracy. But they learned from their spanking in the 1940's and have spent a lot of money on sham "think tanks" like Hoover, Heritage and a hundred other corporate shills. WE have done everything the "geniuses of economics and supply-side" have asked of us and it has done nothing but make the Middle Class poorer and poorer since the 70's.

Wikileaks is just revealing that Fascists do not like Democracy. And if we actually still had a Democracy -- we'd also have a justice department that would have put thousands of people from Bush and Clintons regimes in prison.

I'd also like to say that Julian Assange is perhaps the most important INTERNATIONAL HERO we have right now.

It's no wonder that he is a bigger target than "bin Laden" and I don't think there will be a "stand down of troops" like we had at Tora Bora.

Embarrassing the government is one thing; that's almost useful as it's the normal scapegoat for Corporations that use it for their own gain. But when Julian Assange starts outputting the Shenanigans of banks -- oh boy!

It's one thing to attack the "Defense" departments -- it's quite another to attack the OWNERS of America Inc.

Wachovia got sold to Wells Fargo because they were laundering Billions of Dollars in drug money in Mexico -- so many of our "grand institutions" are nothing but mobsters who don't need guns because the status quo was written by them.

There is no threat to our troops if they are NOT IN OTHER COUNTRIES killing people. Why are they in Afghanistan or Iraq when it was Saudi Arabia and the CIA who arranged the attack on us? Simple answer; profit and power! It's always the reason for everything.

Why the trolls come out of the woodwork you say one thing negative about a rapist on the run... alledged uh huh

Yeah, every Hero fighting the Power is "in it for the money" or an alleged pervert. BP can make Billions and we have to PROVE THEM GUILTY without a trial, without anyone issuing a subpoena who isn't on their payroll -- the Robber Barons are above reproach. But an organization that kills for a living -- well, they CARE about some alleged rapist.

I'm surprised that Wikileaks didn't end up with kiddie porn on their servers -- it's as good as yelling "burn the witch!" these days -- and if you got it wrong, they automagically go to heaven! Hooray for the MORAL UPRIGHT AMERICANS!

Yet, all those moralists and champions of industry and Conservative "tough on crime" folks end up being child molesters, war profiteers, and caught snorting crack off a young kids back.

The CIA, the military, the State Department are SO CONCERNED about this one alleged rapist. It would have NOTHING to do with him revealing documentation that everything we are told from our Military and State Department is an absolute lie.

>> I'm so sick of people apologizing from the Crooks in power -- who NEVER go to prison. No matter if they allow planes to smack into buildings with 72 warnings. No matter if they start wars on lies. No matter if 100,000 babies are born disfigured from depleted uranium and about a million Iraqis are dead so that we can stop that nasty, mean, Saddam Hussein.

America is accepting Million-Dollar airport scanners and cavity searches -- WITHOUT ever holding the people in power up to scrutiny. It's ludicrous. We will never be secure when the Rich get richer and the poor get poorer -- soon, people will be stealing loaves of bread. Civil liberties have been destroyed, and anywhere the aren't -- an ethnic seeming bomber shows up on schedule. Nobody asks where he got the funds, or how someone who cannot tie their own shoes can procure advanced materials.

Anyone who challenges the corruption, becomes the enemy, because Truth is the biggest act of terrorism to despots.

Your relentless spewing of the patently false charge that Julian Assange is a rapist reminds me of what a good acquiantance says about what you're doing with this false rape accusatioon: When a person persistently accuses another of something like this and just can't let go of the need to keep spewing such filth, it is likely a strong indicator that this person is, or would like to be, guilty of the very conduct of which he is accusing the other. Have I hit a sensitive nail on its head with that? Oh, before I forget, why don't you just stfu and display a glimmer of personal dignity for once.

Hiding? He's not doing a very good job, is he?

Innocent? I have no idea. But I still believe in innocent until proven guilty.

evidently this link slipped through:

www.msnbc.msn.com...

and this was actually something I lived through ....

If your memory goes back far enough, or even if you decide to read about that whole situation, Iraq invaded its neighbors for ...... oil.

Are you talking about this? link

I can't believe that people will believe everything their government throws at them. In a sense, they are brainwashed

So, because Iraq invaded their neighbors for oil, you think that makes it ok for western countries to do the samr thing? is that what you are saying?

They were looking for an excuse to get into Iraq. They were desperate!

I really find it hard to except that there are people out there who think its wrong for the people to know what their governments are up too. I mean, how can we make this world a better place when so many people are ignorant, brainwashed, or more concerned about what the latest celeb is up too

If everyone felt like you, then nothing would change, and we, as a race would carry on sinking deeper and deeper. You have to remember, some of these decisions that governments have made, or could make, could effect us all, and not in a good way.

Look around you! the world is a mess, and is getting worse. We already know that certain governments have done terrible things, and i don't think we should turn a blind eye, esp when the world at the moment is full of currupt, power hungry governments that don't give a crap about you and me, andneverwill.

Why doeople find it so hard to see the biger picture? And why are people still in denial about all this. I mean, we are still doing the same things we have been doing or thousands of years, and that is tribal warfare. Our technology has moved forward, but we have not.

I am disgusted in some of the things that these people get away with, and i am disgusted with the people who don't seem to give a crap, but the same people will show their anger when something terrible does happen in the future but by that time, it will be too late!

While I consider myself a Conservative and Vet I'm glad to see some of these revelations, I would however like to see more that exposes more on our elected officials, bureaucrats and leaders in the private sector.

Fundamentally, most governments lack the brains to be capable of setting up, sponsoring, aiding or having anything to do with wikileaks except get their stuff published by them through people p-o's with the government dept they work for.

Corporations do have the brains to set up wikileaks as a front, but wikileaks seems to be providing enough information damaging more to these corporations than any benefit they might have to those corporations.

And frankly, if I had the know-how and finances to start something like this - I would - and believe me, it would have absolutely zero connection to the government or corporations. And, most of those (not all) who I know, who are mostly conservative - are rooting for wikileaks. We're fed up.

Rather than get ticked off with wikileaks or Assange - how about getting ticked off with the Pentagon and Intelligence Services complete ineptitude when it comes to network security? Frankly - between guys with boxcutters and others with dial-up modems - the Pentagon should be reduced into a "line segment" - and escorted out the doors into the wonderful wide world of unemployment; along with the FBI and CIA. The only thing different with Wikileaks is it shares the information it gets - others... like China, Israel, and US Corporations... just use it against us in broad daylight.

No worries. Thanks for recognizing we're not all brainwashed idiots, who accept our government's murderous misdeeds as the price of our limited freedom.

I basically am ok with our countries murderous deeds as a price, but that does not make me a "brainwashed idiot". I'd prefer to be called level headed.
