I realize the DPRK doesn't have any great production capability...
North Korea has annual production capacity for 200,000 AK automatic guns, 3,000 heavy guns, 200 battle tanks, 400 armored cars and amphibious crafts. North Korea makes its own submarines, landing drafts, high-speed missile-boats, and other types of warships. Home-made weaponry makes it possible for North Korea to maintain a large military force on a shoestring budget. North Korea defense industry is made of three groups: weapon production, production of military supplies, and military-civilian dual-use product manufacturing.
North Korea has 17 plants for guns and artillery, 35 plants for ammunition, 5 plants for tanks and armored cars, 8 plants for airplanes, 5 plants for warships, 3 plants for guided missiles, 5 plants for communication equipment, and 8 plants for biochemical warheads - 134 plants in total. In addition, many plants that make consumer products are designed so that they can be made to produce military items with minimum modification. About 180 of defense related plants are built underground in the rugged mountainous areas of Jagang-do. Several small to medium hydro-power plants serve these plants so that it would be nearly impossible for the US to cut off power to the plants.

It will take a few months to beat the snot out of them and even then I am under the impression they will not surrender, they will be hiding in hills in caves and in tree's fighting, conventionally this can go on for a long time.

Hmm they are using 30 year old tech and the soldiers would be starving in a month. Hmm ya really strong fighting force alright. Let me guess did you start a thread years ago about how strong Iraq was before the war?
And let me make this clear I think the wars have become a industry like coke or snack cakes but to say N. Korea is a powerhouse is just dumb.

To think they are not is naive.
How sophisticated are our defense systems? Can they stop Seoul from getting hit with 500,000 artillery rounds an hour for several hours? No.
So they could level the capital of S Korea with 10,000,000+ people there. But they are just a joke, right?
They don't have to win against the U.S. outright, all they have to do is wipe out Seoul, then all anyone is doing is fighting for damaged goods.

I have nothing against China, except for the fact their human rights are a bit arcane in their lands, yet until they position themselves otherwise I see no need to disrupt positive relations with China. However you want to look at it, they have made positive strides to this blossoming economy we had up until the point of the implosion, which is not all their fault, in all in all they are a piece of the economic aspect of the 21st century. Now if they start to strain relations with acts that diplomacy cannot shade, then so be it, I at this point do not see an inevitable war with China, I just see allot of misunderstanding in the cultures.
we are only to blame with the losses of jobs in America.
As far as their great cyber attacks on America, well that is still something in contention.
As I stated once their diplomats cannot shade their actions then so be it.
I hear ya thou, I can meet you half way, if you take some of what I am saying off, and I take some of what you are saying off, we can see the truth a lil clearly I suppose.

North Korea is known to have the world's largest artillery force. South Korea's capital city is only 35 miles from the border.
Although the range of Kim Jong-il's arsenal is fodder for debate, it's certain the rogue dictator could hit Seoul with many shells in a matter of hours. He did take a few potshots last January. This threat is a key reason North Korea can bully its neighbor and stand up to US intervention.
The point is the North is not a military powerhouse. Canada could take out Detroit if the wanted to but in the end they have a weak military.
