Because of a legislative oversight, a new Virginia law requires businesses to give workers Saturdays or Sundays off if they want it, alarming some businesses with weekend and round-the-clock shifts to cover.

Call the ACLU on this one. No longer free to work the entire weekend, unless you want to. What's next, additional pay for working over 8 hours a day?

However, this is serious for businesses and especially for part time workers like students, teenagers, etc.

Yeah it's called OVERTIME....and it's been around for quite a while..

If you read between the lines.. The people that want to work.. WILL WORK.. it's not stopping people from not working on the weekend it's just giving them an option.

Thanks for noting the optional portion of the law Oz. I made the edit.

Overtime? You don't say.

OzChris, he was being sarcastic, I hope.

But hey, this isn't that bad I guess. Keeps people who don't want to work the weekend from working.

Your hopes are well founded Sir James the Lesser. Indeed, I was being sarcastic.

Nevertheless, our friend's serious tone reminds me that weekends are nothing to sarcase about.

I work 2 jobs.... By day I am a manager of a printing firm and by night and weekends I drive limo's.

Weekend work is part of my lifestyle.... From what time off I get I spend alot of it catching up on lost sleep.

Why do I do it.. SIMPLE.... How many of you know a 26 year old with a 3 bedroom brick home on 1000 sq m block of land....A nice car and very little mortgage... I have no debt apart from the mortgage... And can pretty much do what I want when I want.....none of this I'd love to but can't afford it crap.

As I said before in my previous if you wanna be a joe slackass and not work... That's your choice and I fully understand why you would want to do that.

If you do work.. The benifits are reaped later in life.

How can this be bad? If someone wants to work overtime... good ,and if they don't's ok. A choice is GOOD.
