So, when is the U.S. Government going to seize the Google domain?

One of the most worrisome things is happening on the web right now and with increasing frequency. Domains are being seized by the U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security under the auspices of ICE. Not only are they being seized but it is happening without any notification but also apparently with the assistance of ICANN.

So does anyone still here feel that the Internet is your right and no one can take that away, well obviously with all the mayhem going on across the globe this is a mere drop in the ocean. But lets face it, its not about the torrents but it obviously shows what happens when they decide to flex their muscle.

As for google, well since it is under the umbrella of those so called non existent alphas, i would safely say they have nothing to worry about.

I think its in completely violation of Freedom of Press, and aren't there more constitutional amendments for freedom of information? We should actually push Congress to make an amendment that will make the internet untouchable by the government. If that can't happen, then this just isn't a democratic country anymore, I would think everyone that lives here who isn't a complete fukcing tool would want to fight against internet censorship.

I think that there will always be an internet as long as commerce and big commerce is around...there are just too many benefits to such a tool to remove it.

However, if one assumes that the internet was being created and implemented in the 50's give or take, then one could likely assume without reprisal that there was a concerted attention placed on how people would react to it...how it could effect the social balance.

I think now that we have arguably seen two American elections where the internet could have been a huge factor in communication of such that we are full blown into the era where the assumptions /projections are being put to the test and are being considered.

While corporate enterprise has huge influence on internet legislation, there is indeed a relevant amount of attention from our governing bodies as to how this effects the conformist society and its' daily production.

As for google?

Bah...they write the code for their search engines and it could indeed be possible for them to subtly prioritize the links of their choosing. While it is impossible to know what any given person will specifically input into a search engine, there are ways to dissuade and prioritize information/links.

But that is the paranoid in me. There are stories that have linked google with the CIA...but in reality, there is no way the average person can know that there aren't 'red herrings' thrown into the search engine...either by google or willful manipulation of website creation.

NSA 'assists' Google with processing all their data.
That means the NSA has possession every search term, web page you visit, and anything else you do online.
Google map a route from your home?
They now know where you live.

Out of curiosity where is it spelled out in law or the Constitution that the internet use is a right?

That argument aside, I was under the impression Google pretty much operated as an "independant" wing of the US Government. Google is used by the NSA and several other agencies in varying degrees, and this has been no secret.

Lets take our trusty time machine and think back when the clipper chip was made public, oh wasn't that a blast. But back to the point. Sure google has had no hesitation in announcing its cooperation with nsa,fbi,atf etc etc..., but all that aside, does anyone in here honestly believe that you can grow so fast in such a short time without the blessing of those located at the 5th floor way below the horizon. ....... I think not.

This Google NSA tandem was leaked through an article written by Ellen Nakashima on The Washington Post Newspaper earlier on February 4, 2010. Google does not need to be seized, as I believe it to be controlled by the same people who control the government at this point. Isn´t their slogan, "don´t be evil", one of the strangest you ever heard? I think it´s meant as some sick joke as google is getting ready to engage in some serious evil. One giant communications control grid - to enhance your freedom. Every power-hungry dictators wet dream!

The Internet is only a privilege, but not one that can be taken away easily. It serves as a pacifier, effectively keeping the people from doing what they ought to have done ages ago... Which is to physically remove corporate psychopaths from power and assume control over their future. The net will morph gradually. Because sadly the only thing that could trigger a revolution is if the porn supply was cut off.

Rights? Food and shelter aren´t even rights. We don´t even grant it as a privilege to everyone.

Well, the thing is, there are so many people tuned into social sites like fb that they have simply lost the ability to think independently. Now add to that, the recent hype regarding 3d television and the fact that major networks are actively embracing the net and television as a single unit to be purchased and planted right in your living room make those aware that # is about to hit the fan in ways that even if mentioned will resemble some scifi movie.

Indeed, we can alter your moods and thoughts without the need to be physically in your country. Sounds weird, sure does, is it true, yep.

Now they offer tons of free services and there paid services are being used less and less, as many business' and website designers are realizing that the pay per click is not worth the money.

No way! as they would lose there ownership and ceo status', since they can be voted out by the share holders now that they are a public company.

I understand your point, but in my eye's i tend to see money as the carrot held in front a mule to force it to move. But the true motive for holding the carrot is unseen. Again, its not the person holding the carrot nor is the carrot the picture, in this case the "money" or "wealthy/elite". My humble opinion is dominance, ever since man established a society he wanted and must impose himself upon others and as history throughout time has shown us that when a person dominates it always turns into a war with real blood and destroyed civilizations.

Then again, everyone is a product of their environment, so if we ever so slightly alter that environment then we have successfully altered everyone's lives...no ? Oh I most certainly agree with everything you said! I too see this as a violation under the First Amendment of the united States Constitution. And we should push Congress to build an amendment that would prevent any censure-ship at all by the government agencies that do not want us connected on the internet, but give us all cell phone with video capability. The watch us but we can watch them too, and record them in action. Everybody vote, and everybody demand a paper vote! Tell them to shove those Diabold infernal devices where the sun doesn't shine. Let's mob the voting booths and get our way for once!

I believe that we must be very careful in how we view 'rights' versus 'privileges'. People often confuse the two, simply out of desire or attachment to common components of our lives.

It can easily be argued that every human being has a right to life, liberty... you know the rest. But food? Shelter? No... these things are not often considered rights. True to form in any capitalistic nation, they remain privileges and even a method of easily cataloging class.

Information could (and should!) be argued as our right...but, not necessarily the vehicle through which it is presented. Otherwise, we could argue that newspapers and television is also a right...not an argument that I think any of us are likely to pose anytime soon.

I am reminded, as I often am in conversation of this nature, of Caleb Carr's "Killing Time" and some of the questions and commentary that it poses for the Internet... as well as what it means for our societal evolution. Is it really so much of a stretch that it is a vehicle for manipulation, when so much is as stake? So much control? So much knowledge? Is it really all that surprising that there are forces at play that are connected to our government?

As with many of the modern-day stories and theories, I am never taken aback by the level of integration or manipulation from levels of government... I am merely offended at how blatant they have become.

But, again, is my opinion and resultant commentary a product of information availability from the Internet? Or have things really become much more obvious, if you are willing to look and not distracted by the latest Facebook application...?
