about time somebody put something about this up, i have to say im suprised that nothing has been posted before now , i felt for sure their would be at least one student from the uk who was a member on here who would like to spread the word but apparently not, anyway im waffling to any students who may read this if you and your fellow students find yourself penned in by the police like they did the other day heres how to get out, break the windows on the surrounding buildings climb in and set fire to them,they will let you go on your way they have no choice they have to get in to put the fires out if they dont youll all burn to death live on the telly and all become martyr`s thus enhancing your cause and who knows just may be the start of a revolution that this country so badly needs.

this is amusing.. in america if you are poor and you want to go to college then you got to get a job , tighten your belt, and start living on the ramen noodle diet. then you spend 30 years paying off student loans for a degree that you probably won't even need or won't succeed in earning. college isn't quite as important as the school system would have you believe, and i can't begin to comprehend why someone would pay a government institution to teach them lies. didn't you get brainwashed enough on your first time through the public school system? who knows, maybe it is different there, but i doubt it's that different. the people of the US and the UK have a lot more in common than either of us care to admit. when it comes down to it, most of us are probably going to be dead in thirty or forty years anyway, who cares about a stupid college degree and chasing after their material BS until you die sad and alone. live your life while you got a chance, there is more to life than money and material objects....

LOL, because the American news is nothing more than CIA propaganda. The CIA bragged that not one story will get coverage unless they okay it. They outright own many of the large media outlets and Reuters. I read a book from a CIA agent that said the only thing they couldn't control is if some tiny paper in podunk USA wrote a story, but that story wouldn't be picked up on the wire services they control so wouldn't go far.

There sure not going to tell you that somebody is starting the revolution against the powers that be! I think it's so funny how all the major TV outlets NEVER air one single story from anybody that says the Afghanistan war is a total waste of American lives and money and that we are helping to grow the opium. They always trot out some shill saying that the Taliban are being funded with the opium now and by Iran! So of course they want us to begin dropping nukes on Iran immediately!

Haven't read all the responses here yet, just some random thoughts on US education costs.

I have alot of education, probably over 200K worth in today's money. 2 undergrad degrees and one MS so far, nearly enough for second MS.

Was this a waste? No, I work in the sciences - you do kinda need to 'go to school' for this. Do I make alot of money? Is 60K per year alot to you?

I don't have much left of student loans. Paid them off, always lived cheap. In the past, school wasn't so expensive either.

Right now - if I were to go back to school - a decent place here - would be 30K per year in tuition alone. And it's hard stuff, no time for work. Medical students are not *allowed* to work - and the rest of the sciences are just as hard, if not harder. You might get an intern type thing hooked into your education - but that amounts to 10, 15 hours a week @ 7/hr.

You can't live on that. And you cannot even *borrow* enough to cover the tuition. I have excellent grades, work experience, etc - qualify for "all". Grants and loans. BUT - this is still - NOT ENOUGH to even pay for the tuition.

And that's a mid range school here. What's wrong with public school? That also costs 10, 15K and - most public schools do not have much advanced study offered.

The "top end" schools here are 50K plus yearly.

Who in the hell can afford this?

And if you are "on your own" - it is virtually impossible.

Now on the flip side - the Chancellor at one of our public (receives tax$) Uni's here - makes 300K per year. Is that really necessary?

And the Professors' hours have been cut to nothing - they are ALL "part time" so the school does not have to pay benefits. Around here - most Professors work at 4, 5 different schools, both public and private, they are all on 'part time'. And all of these teachers, even more senior ones, make poor wages.

I look at Academia - I've been in this a long time - I saw it go to hell just like "Big Biz". Charge you up the ass and give you little to no benefit - while the top end people rake in the big bucks.

Just some observations on the US education system, from a long timer. I'd like to riot too!

To me - it's not about "education is a privilege, go to work you bum" - it (educational systems) seems to have gone the route of the "Big Corporations" - and are top heavy while screwing "the little guy" - both students and Professors (and other workers in these places - they don't make anything either.)

So a huge economic crisis is MANUFACTURED by the Banksters (US debt expires on the same date) to re-create huge national debt - so the PRIVATE BANKSTERS keep getting their INTEREST.

One act of parliament/one senate Bill would completely reverse this criminal set up which enslaves the population. In US Ron Paul is starting to raise this issue. In UK Cardwell has recently had the guts to introduce a Private Members Bill to this effect.

This IS NOT reported in the MSM...for obvious reasons.

Most people are unaware of this huge bankster scam, but returning the right to issue currency to the national government where it belongs would completely turn the situation around and income tax would no longer be necessary or drastically reduced.

If UK got out of the EU, the £6.8 billion per year plus the billions of bail out money it would no longer be paying to bankrupt EU countries, would significantly reduce our existing debt.

With those two things, the country would be back on its feet in great shape, and would have re-established its sovreign independence from the parasitic, predatory banksters and criminals.

Actually the student protest was covered at length on BBC 24. It is about possible payback of student loans ie; paying back for a students education, and it is the big hike in payback that they are protesting about, never mind if education should be free for all. It is also that part of the coalition, the lib-dems, in the past and not in power, had said it was something they would not do! I watched some of it and it was mostly peaceful, a helicopter did much of the video. The police van that did get vandalised seemed a bit rusty and most likely sacrificial, possibly a clever way to concentrate the crowd in London and possibly to root out rabble rousers. There were other protests in other parts of the country and mostly peaceful. The police did have a high profile in London because of previous student protests on other issues that did have damage done. That's about it really.

Hey even a small rally can help because it can influence many more people to fight for what they believe in from growing their own vegetables to not paying for gas. We must live for the moment and take charge..
I agree with pretty much everything you said in your thread because it speaks volumes of truth. The hardest part is changing that kind of thinking because if we continue to live the routine, the route of humanity will continue.

They wont show it because they dont wont the sleepers know that they can awaken and do the same.
