2. Movements such as abolitionism could have been brushed off in their infancy, because it was a ''view that very few people held''.

Are you getting enough air up there on your high horse, Sherlock?

Nowhere in that quoted post did I compare vegetarianism to abolitionism.

Try again.

If you want me to spell it out for you, I am pointing out the logical flaws in your, and other meat-eaters', arguments.

My point is clearly in reply to your comment about a dietary choice ''that very few hold''.

...i dont care what you eat - as long as you dont LITERALLY eat me...

...about those haughty veggie-only-ists - they crack me up - because - they never consider that what they eat is ALIVE and might have FEELINGS and might SUFFER when it is picked, shredded, steamed, chewed, etc... iow: just because you cant hear a veggie screaming in agony doesnt mean it isnt...

...now then - my fav menu for national EAT A DEAD BIRD DAY...

...many pounds of boiled shrimp (ala naturale - peel your own)...
...sweet tater pie with peecans and marshmellow topping...
...ho'cake with old-fashion cane syrup and sour cream...
...boiled cabbage with purple onions and hawg jaw...
...scallops and mushrooms in garlic butter sauce...
...melt the hair off your whatever enchiladas...
...fried jalapenos stuffed with sharp cheddar...
...fried zucchini lavished with shake cheese...
...hushpuppies (hush, hush, sweet puppies)...
...milk gravy (to float the puppies in)...
...lots of assorted hotsauces...
...nanner puddin...

...perfection...

The tradition always seemed barbaric to me. Symbolic of the beginning steps to the demise of indigenous Americans celebrated by putting a decapitated animal into the oven to drool over. I kicked the habit years ago.

While I can't speak for all vegetarians, everybody knows that plants are ''living'', so your comments are redundant.

And here's where you're going wrong:

''Might''. Sorry, but that is where you have disembarked from the logical train.

Please provide me with evidence that plants are sentient, have feelings, and can feel pain.

Gracias.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Native Americans who helped create the country we live in. Without them it wouldn't have been possible.

In what way wouldn't the USA be ''possible'' without American Indians ?

Did they have much of a say about it ?

The first few waves of parasite, disease harboring settlers would have starved to death without the locals to help out.

Bollocks.

There's no retrospective ethical appraisal of the original ''Thanksgiving day'' and the historic ''discovery'' of America.

Celebrating the exploitation of the land of the native inhabitants appears to be de rigueur in modern-day ''Thanksgiving celebrations''.

Well given the historywww.history.com...-of-the-thanksgiving-holiday that most Americans understand and the ultimate slaughter of those Indigenous Americans we all know about....it is de rigueur.
