I do think about it..The torpedo episode was suspicious at best..
I think some4 people want war, it makes many rich..
I guess I'm just skeptical and would rather not jump to conclusions..

I see your point. But you have to look at this event on it's own. It's above ground and the target is a town on an island. IF S. Korea would start this, I doubt they would fire from this island onto N. Korea. Unless you're saying that S. Korea fired on this town and blamed the north?

Hmmm, carry on about a nuclear program that NK let them inspect..?
Stockmarkets tumbling?
Follow the money is what I say..

It sure is. Why would Taiwan's market be falling so hard where Japan is in the green?

Hang Seng down 612+ points.

Time zones (there's a 1 hour difference to HK), and the HS trades for an hour longer.

The attack was at 2:35. At 3:00 local time, the nikkei closed. At 5:00 local time, the HS closed.

North Korea Fires Rockets at South Korean Island

North Korea fired artillery at South Korea's Yeonpyeong island in the Yellow Sea off the countries' west coast Tuesday afternoon, setting houses on fire. South Korea returned fire, according to residents on the island speaking on South Korea's YTN television network.

HOUSES WERE HIT AND ARE ON FIRE

Is this the start of WW3 or what?

No, Its not the start of the WW3. Why do you ppl always have to ask this particular question whenever there is bomb exploding? Too much paranoia!!

Look at the link in my post above you. What do you think?

If you all remember, time and time again was announced on how obama could reassure election and better our economy. Want to guess what that is? War. And specifically a world war.

Well lookie what we have here. My opinion? They have been at war, no
peace treaty has ever been signed. The reason why North Korea keeps
doing these things is because of the South's lack of resolve. War is like
a pregnant Woman either she is or isn't. If it were up to me, I'd drop a
nuke for every shell and then see what China has to say.

One thing in your post here is correct. There was no treaty ever signed.

A ceasefire stopped the fighting on July 27, 1953. There was an armistice signed by North Korea, China and the UN but not South Korea. Korea is still split into North Korea, which is communist, and South Korea which is non-communist. The border, protected by a demilitarized zone, was established along the 38th parallel.

Before the armistice, talks had gone on for nearly 2 years. Eisenhower had promised that if he was elected in the election of 1952, he would go to Korea and end the war. There was no simple way to end the conflict. Talks had collapsed in October 1952. In 1953, the US threatened to bomb China, but eventually a ceasefire was declared between UN forces and Korean/Chinese forces.

Exactly, walk softly and carry a bigger stick.

Ive been saying for years that Kim intends to go out with a big fat bang. He isnt going to be around long and has nothing to lose. Usually its all horn tooting rhetoric and bluffing for what seems like international attention.. this kind of seems like the start of his last hurrah war.

TIme will tell, but I would be shocked if it went any further than this. If China opens its mouth, then we should all be much more concerned. I see a nice proxy war if they decide to get in the mix. Im sympathetic to to SK's... but I dont see how we can stretch ourselves any further in yet another theatre concerning military action unless we go Nuke and we simply cant have that on the table. Its certainly the perfect time to strike at SK..

AFP reporting that Japanese government has ordered ministers to be on the alert for something 'unexpected' and 'anything could happen'!

This is a very worrying development from Japan,

As i've said in another thread, this has been all over the news here in Australia for the last hour or so.

Supposedly 200 shells were fired at homes/people on the island of Yeonpyeong.

The question is... Could this escalate to something worse?

Haven't got time to read the whole thread, but if noones mentioned it, a S Korean marine has been killed in the attack

The military said one marine was killed and three others were injured, according to South Korea's YTN television. Two civilians were also hurt

North Korean artillery hits South Korean island‎

Off to work now, will try and follow this from there, proxy permitting

Anyone know if the area that was targeted by alleged shelling is a volcanic region? Looks more like volcanic than shelling? Plenty of smoke etc but where's the explosions? Also with the spate of mine explosions going on?
I haven't seen evidence of shelling, you?
