Rome has been around for 2000+ years steadily without a miss its like a constant, north star so ya after 2000+ years of being around it would only be logical as Spock would say,, that they might have a small amount of influence in the world affairs , if i might be so bold too sugest such a thing . :

OK, to help everybody along who actually desires understanding about North Korea, I will repeat post some good information I posted early this morning.

To everybody who thinks we can just waltz into North Korea and blow them away, or who thinks we can just nuke them and make them go away, you are dead wrong. Don't agree with that statement? Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger. Take up your beef with the US Marine Corps. Here's your first homework assignment: www.fas.org...

Next homework assignment is to download the free Google Earth, and load in this exhaustive KML file which will show you the breadth of North Korea's KNOWN military preparations for the US / ROK invasion scenario. Get your homework here: www.nkeconwatch.com...

Your third homework assignment is to read the relevant Rand Corporation reports regarding the situation on the Korean peninsula. Start with report 3305.1 www.rand.org... and then go to www.rand.org... and search for north korea in the search box for more in-depth background information. Also take this opportunity to study the Rand CB publication on game theory, which will help you analyze the situation from a more logical and theoretically provable point of view. www.rand.org... is your next assignment.

After you complete your homework we can have a real discussion. If those of you who prefer just to rely on blind egoism and pretended superiority based on information you have heard from talk radio want to continue on with your current lack of real knowledge about the situation, I surely can not stop you. However I would not expect anybody to give you a blue ribbon for staying in a state of ignorance after I have gone out of my way to point you to real, vetted, useful information, the exact same information that is used by the various branches of the US Government when analyzing the situation.

your link isn't working. But it's being said that South Korea fired first, but in the opposite direction. It was a military drill, in which North Korea didn't approve of. Although no shots were fired towards North Korea.

Forgive me if this has been posted already but I didn't have the time to read through almost 60 pages of posts.

Russia today and Sky News are reporting that South Korea was the one who cast the first stone.

www.skynews.com.au...

Who knows what the truth really is, but for Rupert Murdoch to come out against the "RAH RAH AMERICA AND ITS ALLIES" jingoistic pablum we get in the media makes me think that it's quite possible that the South really did shoot first.

What about the North Korean famine? Or the fact that South Korea outnumbers the north by 2:1. Would anyone bat an eye lash if china just took over NK to stop all the bull crap? Heck wouldnt china rather deal with the south anyway(if the south took over)?

It's not really our problem, Asia has it handled.

Oh calm down! I said you were acting like a "naughty child" not "you are a naughty child"...Sorry you took it the wrong way. But I am flattered that you think little ole me could cause so much havoc on such a large thread.

Back on topic..
30 or so pages back discussing it being/not being a missile.. wouldn't a missile cause way more damage than the pictures showed?

Sure, sure, Rome and all that. They have a tiny bit of influence in world affairs, and everybody knows how the Jesuits operate. I still maintain that the French are merely halfhearted in their Catholicism.

The famine only affects those people who are NOT in the military, and lately their food production has improved. The famine peaked in about 2003.

As far as South Korea goes, I know they have a lot of people, and that they have mandatory conscription, but most of those folks would rather just play Starcraft.

The reason why America has an interest there, is to protect their interest there. Snake eating its own tail and all that.

It's impossible to say if it was a missile or not, and the damage caused by either artillery or missiles would depend on their size and warhead.

It's kind of a minor detail, though, and at this point doesn't really matter. If I were to guess (and that's all anybody can do) I would say it's artillery, eg a shell, because North Korea is especially flush with artillery and it is so much less expensive to use. When every dollar counts you don't use expensive stuff unless you absolutely have to.

I was curious as to what agenda the Murdock owned Sky News might have in regards to reporting that. Makes you scratch the ol' noodle until its raw and bloody.

I am simply guiding you to good information about North Korea, so you can read up on the subject and become enlightened about it.

North Korea can't really hurt America directly, at most they might sneak a nuke in here somehow and set it off, and kill a few tens of thousands of people. What they can do is totally level the biggest city in South Korea, and maintain the ability to fight even if we nuke the hell out of them.

If you read some of those links you will get some good information.

Sounds great,, but tech. N.k still at war with U.S . and for an allie to walk away would smack of what france/Britian did to poland before ww2. I dont think it would look good on U.S loosing face and all,, and owing big amounts of I.O.U's

There's gotta be tons of information, but unfortunately nobody with the clearance is posting it here!

Hah.

I would say, if you have a shortwave receiver, turn it on and start listening as North Korea tends to put out some English language programming when stuff like this happens. I wouldn't really believe any of it but it can inform you of their plans if you listen with the right part of your brain.
