There have been a couple sayings I have heard throughout my life that have really struck a chord with me.

Here are some of them:

"We'll play it by ear."
I heard this one since I was a kid. It is just such a cool little phrase. It's funny how it doesn't really make sense, yet it does.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Another favorite of mine. True in more than one way.

I know I have a bunch of other faves, I can't think of them at the moment. So in the meantime, please share some of yours that you resonate with.

Would the defendant please rise....

Just something I tend to hear... a LOT

The bigger they are, the longer your inpatient stay is likely to be...

Something I've learned along the way...

Don't think of it as me divorcing you... Think of it as your best friend finally finding somebody.

That's what she said.

Results count.

Through a disciplined approach, perfection can be achieved.

Both mine, but I can't seem to live up to them.

But then, "To thine ownself be true"

Oh I love sayings, these are some of my favorites:

When I die, I'm leaving my body to science fiction.

If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

Che sarà, sarà. (What will be, will be.)

To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.

I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.

Those who will listen to nothing will fall for anything.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.

Giving up smoking is easy. I’ve done it hundreds of times.

People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.

I don’t suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

"How stupid you sound when you say something, depends on where you are standing when you say it."

Mark Twain

example..."Where's my hoe?" Said in a garden is completely different than when said on a street corner.

Playing it by ear is a musical term. If you don't have the written sheet music in front of you then you are playing it by ear.
