I think you will find that i have paid my National Insurance for the past 10 years of my working life and never ever asked for help from anyone. I left my previous employer because of harrassment and bullying and i'm sueing my ex employer...i left because my health and family were suffering. I have been claiming job seekers allowence here in the Uk for 5 weeks, trying desperately to find work but from the 24 jobs i have applied for i have been unsuccessful in obtaining work because there are so many others unemployed. The NI that i have paid is what i am recieving as benefit, so your point is sh*t, its MY money in the first place...NOT the Uk governments, even if they do claim it for themselves.

I'm sick fed up of people who think unemployed people are lazy...granted maybe some of them are but not all of us. I have a family and a mortgage to pay...

To come away with...solving the unemployment problem would be to give people jobs is the most rediculous approach i have ever heard....why? BECAUSE THIS IS OBVIOUS BUT THERE AREN'T ENOUGH JOBS BECAUSE OUR COUNTRY IS BROKE AND UP TO ITS NECK IN DEBT BECAUSE OUR POLITICIANS CAN't PAY DEBT OR SPEND SENSIBLY

Do me a favour and go create a thread somewhere else that won't offend others through your complete lack of disrespect for other peoples situation.

Thats what taxes pay towards....some people are fortunate enough to have a secure job....others are made redundant through no fault of their own.

It would be fair enough if you didnt pay towards help when you needed it....but unfortunatly thats the way a civilized society works...you pay in for your future...if it goes pear shaped then you get some of your money back through benefits.

Yea some people abuse the system....but not every one.
Your putting everyone in the same boat saying people not working are lazy scroungers.

I personally am on ESA which is a medical benefit because im not fit to work. I used to earn £40,000 a year....do you think i CHOSE to live on £65 a week???? Dont be such a moron

Circumstances change....what would these people do if they had no money to put food on the table or a roof over their head??? I know if i was starving and cold id go and steal from a supermarket.....anyone would!!!
If benefits were not available i know the UK would become a horrible place to live....theft...murder...suicide...robbery would increase as a direct result!!! You would rather see people die than claim whats rightfully theirs???

Im disgusted to say the least....

Do you work for david cameron?

You are totally clueless about life and everything that goes with it. If I was you I may have thoughts about how best to rid the world of my self.

Thanks

Yeah when I saw this title, I new it was gonna bring out the angry

well I half agree with the op.

I think the reality here is that many people are pissed off at their employer for
either laying them off or firing them,..
If that is your case,. quit sulking and look for a job.

If you have a "real" health issue, then that would be somewhat acceptable.

And many who are unemployed, simply,.. you just might have to take something that is not what you are used to.

I have made sure I was educated enough along my employment travels to stay ahead of the market.
Many did not do this, thinking their employer was going to be their forever.

Anyybody can come up with a thousand excuses as to why they cant get a job.

If you have to move your family, then do it
if you have to settle for something else till a better one comes along, then do it
If you cant find something that is equal to your last wage, well then I'd say
either you werent worth your wage
time to get some education
time to downsize your expenses.

Either way, there really is no solid reason to be unemployed,. unless you "cant" work.

This whole thread kind of upsets me. I moved from AK to Texas in July and I have not been able to find a job since I moved here. I have filled out app after app, done call backs, and am searching within a 30 mile area for work, and there is none. I can work, I love to work, and I am a very hard worker who takes pride in whatever I do.
What I am finding though, is that for every job I apply for, there are 100+ other people applying too. My patience is running out, and my bank account is now empty. I am not on unemployment, though I might have to go apply very soon to see if I can even qualify.

I'm amazed at how quickly this country went from jobs everywhere I looked to no jobs anywhere. I have even concidered that it could be my age that is holding me back. With all of my experience over the years, I am over-qualified or underqualified everywhere I turn. You know its bad when McDonalds wants to know what degree you have before even being concidered for a job.

To the original poster, you really must be either very young or very dense or both, because you are speaking out your backside.

There are a lot of us who WANT a job and CANNOT find one no matter where we look....

I guess from the way things are going I am probibly going to have to move back to AK. At least I know I have a job waiting for me there.

I was unemployed for a year for personal reasons, in the last few months I had been ready and willing to go back to work and carry on with my life. There are so many unemployed people out there saying 'there are no jobs for us' that I thought I would never regain employment. I spent two days looking around for work and applied for just one job, a few days later I got a call asking me to come to an interview and now I am employed again. It is not about luck, it is all about applying yourself and not making excuses. Unless you have some form of health issue there is no reason to be unemployed, if you really want to work you will go and work and that is the bottom line. (I do not wish to offend people, this is just my point of view)
Edit to add: I think benefits are a good thing, but more should be done to ensure people aren't just cheating the system and getting a free ride. The UK has a serious problem with benefit cheats.

I know I shouldn't feed the troll but...

So what do you do for a living that you are so secure in your position that you would never have to collect benefits?

As one member pointed out, you know a portion of your check goes to the unemployment fund in the event you would lose your job.

unemployment benefits run out after 99 weeks I believe. and there are stipulations, if you cannot provide proof that you are actively seeking employment you will not receive benefits.

So how do you feel about food stamps? because I have my own opinions on that. In my former occupation I dealt with alot of people on food stamps, which aren't stamps anymore its an Electronic Benefits Transfer(EBT) card. the way it seemed to me, the less money you make and the more kids you have, the more free money you get. Thats how alot of people look at it.
I can't tell you how many times a woman with 5 kids driving a brand new excursion with rims on it would come in and buy some useless item, and when i check the receipt shes got close to a thousand dollars on there because it stacks up if you don't all of your monthly allotment. If a person thinks they can get free money they are going to do it and abuse the system. It doesnt take alot to find away around spending your EBT benefits on food. Hypothetically, if you knew the cashier at the register and they agreed to let you swipe your card to spend X hundred amount of dollars, they could just give you the money out of the register. I know for a fact this happens because I see it all the time. I was hounded at my former occupation by people asking me to do this for them.

as terrible as it seems I think there needs to be much stricter regulations concerning food stamp benefits and welfare.

We seems to be seeing alot of this lately: Arrogant abusive posts with the sole intent to anger. For a forum "aspiring to deny ignorance "it sometimes comes off as kindergarten sandbox.

Perhaps we are being purposely poked and prodded (Manipulated)?

Ive mentioned GLP before as being involved with/( run by? ) an organization called "tavistock".The interweb says:"Tavistock is a shadowy govt human "behavioral study" organization.( read cia "brain gravy")" I read somewhere if you try to post the word "Tavistock" at god like productions : you get "merry christmas" or other such useless phrase. And "tavistock can/willnot be discussed tn their conspiracy forums.Perhaps a current member could verify that After feeling clearly manipulated ( i.e having my buttons pushed) by a simple name calling poster like O.P.; I left there and never went back.

So whats up with the "sub level" name calling threads?? Unemployed are all "lazy"; surely the crashing us.seconomy has nothing to do with it. Then there's the newranter who screams everybody is "Stupid".
No one I know acts like this in real life.

That is not correct, the employer pays into the unemployment fund, it is not taken our of your check, that is also true for workmens compensation.

Ahhh yes, attack people who are down on their luck. I'm guessing you have never lived a day in the real world.

Also, how can one steel from another? Pretty sure you meant steal. Probably ought to be paying attention in class instead of posting online.

Iam a single father and my daughter has Perthes, which mean she has a degenerating hip. If it wasnt for unemployment benifit I would be screwed.

I have worked for all my life and paid my taxes which adds up to 10s of thousands of pounds. I hope that nothing like this happens to you or your children and you can always be in work.

I think you need to go back and think a little harder about what you said, bad things can and do happen to people which can leave you needing help.

What about people who are unable to work for various reasons, the most evident would be medical and psychological problems.

The reason the economy is dying is because people are spending less and this stands in complete contrast to what you're saying. If someone spends money, businesses grow which allows them to expand and hire other people who in turn can spend more in other businesses which make these other businesses grow and so forth. The problem arises when there is not enough money in circulation; this happens when people who make a lot of money stop spending, there is a reduced amount of money, businesses shrink, they cut staff which leads to unemployment.

Now consider this, who's the one cutting off the cash flow? Those who spend what-ever the can get or those who have an abundance and keep it to themselves? Unemployment is recycled money, it doesn't help the system but it doesn't hurt it since the money returns to where it came.

The real solution is to reduce useless spending on such things as military and focus on specialized training. Offering better student grants and even loans at lower rates would be another great solution, the government needs to help communities prosper in such ways. Smarter people makes for a smarter country and a smarter country is a prosperous country.

So I wouldn't be so quick to point the finger and judge if I were you. I've heard some many people complain about people who collected unemployment who themselves worked under the table, proudly, and then went home to smoke weed and spend their "hard earned" cash on foreign products just because it was that much cheaper.

Seriously now...
