American ATSers .. here’s a bit of fun for you. 2011 is when the 2012 candidates declare their candidacy. Let us all know what your version of what a good candidate/platform would be for the 2012 US Presidential election. What do you want to hear from the candidates? If there were a perfect candidate, what would he or she (or they?) stand for? Fill in the blanks and add your own ideas. Lets see if we can find someone to fit the bill.

(Yes, this won’t happen. Yes, the shadow gov’t will pick someone for us. Yes, we really have no say and it doesn’t matter. But just for the heck of it …. What who/would YOU like to see?? Go ahead, dream BIG!)

Requirements for POTUS is that he/she is an American born American Citizen, age 35 or older. But QUALIFICATIONS are different. These would be my choices for what qualifies a POTUS for me to want to vote for him or her.

According to me - FlyersFan – the best candidate/platform –

Gender: Irrelevant.

Race: Irrelevant

Citizenship: US born American citizen. It’s the law and it’s a good law to keep in place.

Education: Must know and understand the law of the land and the Constitution. As Commander in Chief, must understand military history and strategy. Finance/economics would be a plus as well.

Experience: Executive experience running a state or major corporation. Military experience as an officer in charge of troops, or military posts, or brigades, etc counts even more. Financial management experience would be a big plus. No ½ term governors like Palin. No ‘community organizers’ like Obama. REAL experience that qualifies a person to be POTUS. Neither of them fit the bill.

Creed: I admit it; I don’t want anyone ‘really into’ whatever their religion is. I’m afraid it would carry over into the secular business of the office of POTUS. Folks ‘really into’ whatever their religion is hardly ever keep it private IMHO.

Political Party: Irrelevant. I admit I’d like to see someone other than a democrat or republican, but the person who is best qualified should get the job. I understand that a POTUS needs support in congress to back up policies, and that’s a bit of a factor.

Defense: Strong defense. That means strong defense contracts and keeping up with the latest technological advancements. This is also good for the US economy. Keeps people employed with steady jobs and good incomes. Good pay for our volunteers in the armed services. Do not weaken America. Only go to war when directly threatened. No more ‘proactive’ wars unless it’s really obvious .. and Iraq isn’t.

Border security: I want someone who will FINALLY secure our borders. They are wide open and many dangerous people are crossing into this country every day. The open borders and the criminals that come across cost this country billions of dollars.

States rights: Less government is the best government. The federal government isn’t supposed to be all things to all people. States have a right to run themselves as they see fit. The only time the feds should step in is if the state law effects other states in a negative manner. Example – if Arizona decided to be one big safe haven for illegals then that would be negative for the states connecting with it. Then the feds could step in.

Ethenol: STOP burning our food supply.

Oil drilling: Drill ANWR.

"Green Technology": Encourage but be reasonable. Those stupid light bulbs that we all have to use are NOT ecologically friendly and they put the American business - GE - out of the lightbulb business. From a defense standpoint, this is insane.

Cap and Trade: This is a scam and it's bad for America too. It should be ground into the dirt under our feet.

Fed Reserve: End the Fed.

Physician Assisted Suicide: Supports physician assisted suicide to be made legal in every state for any adult that wants it for any reason. Yes .. it’s part of health care reform IMHO and long overdue. Supports this internationally for anyone on the whole planet.

Health care reform: Reform it. Keep what is good in the new package (kids stay on parents policies until 26, etc). Get rid of the unsustainable bulk of it. Start over with the parts that have to be tossed.

Taxes: Get rid of the current income tax system. Institute a flat tax. Everyone pays the same percentage no matter how much or how little you make. And no bringing back the death tax.

Foreign Aid: Stop sending foreign aid overseas and instead give aid to Americans here in America who are in need. The Appalachians are a great place to start with this.

Disclosure: Full and honest disclosure. I want a POTUS and government that will stop treating us as children. Tell us the truth. The truth about ET; the truth about that Chinese missile off California; the truth about corporate giants running the world; the truth about it all etc etc Treat us like adults.

International: Stops apology tours. Stops sending aid to people who hate us. Stops sending troops overseas to alleged hot spots when we need them here on our own borders. Let other countries pick up the international troop burden for a change.

Term Limits: A call for a national vote on term limits for those elected to DC – senate, house. The POTUS could do that. He or she would be hammered by those in office but he/she could still call for the vote. It would get the momentum going.

Pro Life/ Pro Abortion: This doesn’t matter. The law is set and it supports abortion. The POTUS has no say in this.

Don't ask/Don't tell: BAH! Americans who are homosexual have been defending this country since even before it was declared a soverign nation. The policy to keep homosexuals out of the military is absurd and it doesn't work anyways. In the military no one is allowed to show public displays of affection. Therefore, this law is just homophobic. Dump it.

Presidency: Runs a more FRUGAL White House. No more ‘every Wednesday cocktail party’ like Michelle Obama does. No more 100$ oz kobe beef plates for dinner. No more renting out the entire Taj Mahal hotel and having a 3,000 person entourage. State dinners are necessary, but the fru-fru isn’t.

United Nations: Declares Rockefellers gift of New York land to the United Nations to be null and void. Kicks the bums out. Gives the property to the city of New York so it can recoup some of it’s losses from all those unpaid parking tickets the ‘diplomats’ rack up every year. The UN is a corrupt cesspool and should be GONE.

NPR: End public funding. It's a joke. The money can go to MUCH better things elsewhere.

**I know that there is probably no candidate to fit this. But I said 'dream big'. And this is what I'd like to see. Feel free to add yours ... or not.

Excellent work Sir.

I don't have much time and I am sure it won't be a surprise for many. But, as of NOW (meaning things could change).

I would like to see a Palin/Rubio (Fla) ticket.

2nd (just in case): Chirstie (NJ Gov) & Brewer (AZ Gov)

Should be an interesting thread. Good luck.

Have a good weekend.

Oh .. and even though these are probably states rights issues ...
Legalize marijuana. Regulate it. Tax it.
Legalize prostitution. Regulate it. Tax it.
I'm sure the POTUS could make a nice pitch for it though.

I've had a man crush on Ron Paul for ten years, but the msm will ignore/marginalize him out of the nomination just like they did in 2008.

My pick for pres would be Judge Andrew Napolitano and any Republican who's last name isn't Palin for VP.

INB4 Ron Paul Revolution and Ron Paul Trolls. I would keep this short and sweet. As well be the first to mention I will not vote! Yet I would place my bets.

I would agree the politician would have to know the current American laws, economics, military and so forth. As well know how to control the people and give them freedom at the same time.
There are some leaders and politicians I would like to look out for.

Fred Karger:

political consultant and gay activist of California, has formed an exploratory committee for a 2012 run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Stewart Alexander also from California is also very popular for the Greens and Socialist.
Should be fun.

How about we just wake up and realize we don't need people to control or "govern" us at all? There's a reason all of our institutions are failing us, namely government and religion--they're irrelevant and obsolete. Humanity is outgrowing them.

Evolution didn't stop when we stood upright. It's supposed to keep going, you know. And it is. Forget about politics. Focus on what you can do personally to make other peoples' lives better, and yours as well. You don't need politicians for that.

Transcendence 2012.

I think, no, I am certain that the best pick must be two (vice & pres) that are immoral rather than liars faking being moral.

Just what I think.

Whoa. It's going to take a lot of research to fill the requiorements on the platforms you mentioned.

Just off the top of my head, I'd like to see a Romney/Rice (if she'll accept) ticket for the 2012 Elections.
