Rescue Teams Sent to F-22 Crash Site

Search and rescue teams have identified the location of the latest loss of a U.S. Air Force F-22, this one crashing during a nighttime training mission while operating from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

The F-22 lost contact with air traffic control around 7:40 p.m. local time on Nov. 16. The crash site was found 100 mi. north of Anchorage, the USAF says. The aircraft was part of a two-ship formation, “Rocky One” and “Rocky Three.” The mishap flight was “Rocky Three” with “Rocky One” unable to locate the crashed aircraft. The crash site was discovered around 10:15 a.m. local time on November 17, but rescue teams were not immediately able to land to determine the fate of the pilot.

I heard a rumor that the aircraft had a nuclear weapon on board. Is that just Internet garbage or has anyone else heard this too?

Well they said they had to send a hazmat team in first so something is dirty up in the woods, Could be somekind of cover for about a gazillion things.

F-22 RAM coatings can be considered hazardous material. Not necessarily nukes.

The seat charges and canopy breaker and any weapons/ammo on board are hazardous materials. they need a hazmat team for this.

If the aircraft has lawn darted and is in a crater all this material is in the hole and if the pilot did not eject his body is under all the rest of the plane in the bottom of the crater.

Also if the plane cratered they would not be able to tell if the ejection seat and pilot still in the plane or not.

The first thing the military looks for is the ejection seat because the pilot is with it in many cases.

There are 3+ beacons on fighter air craft.
One on the plane, one on the seat, and one in the seat survival pack.
But some pilots have been known to carry a extra on there survival vest
Also if its a two place aircraft the co-pilot would have one on his seat and in his seat pack.

If none of these have gone off it a very good chance they are in little pieces in the bottom of the crater.
