So this man, and others like him, can fight for this country and risk their life to defend our lives and supposed freedoms and he is dismissed by the military because he happens to be homosexual and he chains himself to the fence outside the White House and is arrested for his protest of homophobia by our so-called ‘leaders’.

Stand up and defend Lt. Dan Choi and the other dismissed and hiding homosexuals who served in the military. This is just disgusting that people are not free to express themselves and their voices are silenced by the government and the country they risk their lives to defend.

Honestly, Im not sure how I feel about gays in the military, as with women in the military. It obviously opens a whole can of worms when a lover is in battle with you, but if you think about it, its been in armies forever...i mean it worked for the Spartans, right?

But S+F for anyone standing up for what they believe in, especially when his freedoms (ironically ones he fought for) are at stake.

I wouldn't have cared if I served with a homosexual. You're supposed to keep it professional at work--it's just like any other job. If you're worried about relationships developing between men in the military, then we should outlaw women from serving as well, because relationships, as well as complications, develop in units with male/female integration already. It's somehow worse if two men or women develop a sexual relationship in the same unit, compromising mission integrity, but not if members of the opposite sex develop relationships--the type which happen often in today's military? There are protocols in place to deal with the issue of members becoming romantically involved with each other in the same unit--simply extend these rules to govern homosexual relationships as well.

You can't have gays in the military.
1. The Sarge can't yell, "Faggot, don't you eyeball me"!, because the Sarge would have been instructed to be "sensitive".
2. That same Sarge could proposition the gay soldier on one of those long, lonely deployments promising special consideration in return for a little oral understanding.
3. This same Sarge, if spurned by this young gay lad, would be looking to cleanse his soul and platoon of this deviant.
4. The poor Sarge....now he is caught with gay porn, his wife leaves him. The gays don't want him helping their cause.
5, The gay soldier had considered suicide, but chose a publicity stunt instead.
6. The Sarge committed suicide.

Sorry, no sources.

I don't know what's more amazing.

The people who are in power and the people who are homophobic who show a huge lack of human compassion and reasoning.

Or the people who are protesting and being arrested for the right to die for the country treating them as second class citizens.

Forget about the Spartans, okay? I understand you're referring to how long it's been in history, but it's history.

EVERY CIVILIZED COUNTRY allows lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered men and women to serve openly in their militaries other then the US.

How many of them are having troubles with this?

If we're allowing a small minority to tell others that they can't serve their country, to protect their countrymen just because of their sexual orientation, then we're no better then the countries we blast everyday that strip others of rights.

North Korea, Zimbabwe...

This is who we're siding with...

You know what I find the most annoying thing, most homo-phobics seem to be completely enamoured with themselves and believe that they incredibly appealing and sexually irresistible to gay people. Chances are, they wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole. Get over yourself.

That cute girl in accounting that won't give you the time of day is thinking exactly the same as that guy in the foxhole with a rifle and the same uniform. He's not thinking how incredible it would be to have sex with you, he probably finds you quite repulsive sexually. How does his sexuality stop him from doing his job?

21st century? Don't make me laugh.

Would you feel any different for him if he raped someone, or was a thief or murderer.
He broke the law. He was arrested. He'll have his day in court.
Next case.

I am anit-war all around so this happens to be my opinion also.

I am watching a lot of Bill Hicks videos lately. Really sorry this guy is dead.
This is another good thread you started Misoir but I don't love them all.

Yes. Totally different. Completely different. You are comparing apples to grenades.
Yeah they are both small and round and you can throw them both but that is where the similarities end.
You got some pretty weird ideas there...uh... Violater?
Such aspirations. Why does everyone's name fit their posts? This is the weirdest thing. It is as if people know what they are and call themselves by that name even if the reference is derogatory. Still waiting for "A Hole" to show up here. Or maybe he has.

Sorry, no sources?

Not finding a whole lot of sense here either, Stewball -
The only thing you got right is the numbers...all sequential.
I will number my items like this in posts and on review, find I have have 2 number 5's.

So your numbering is excellent. It is the words that are total BS.

ruse,
that is how the arguments happen in the "real" world, man. I have heard them expressed that way, but I admit, it was tongue in cheek. Not to be taken, literally. But, you can't take most political discussions all that seriously anyway, can you?

We seriously have much larger problems in this country than this. I seriously think that crap like this being brought to the forefront is meant as a distraction from the major problems facing the country.
Our economy is in the tank, more jobs are being lost than are being created, we're in a winless war against an Idea, The TSA are molesting adults and children and Obama, Pelosi and other politicians are making Gays in the Military a priority.
All this while Hollywood and the Media distracts the average dumb ass American Citizen with headlines like "Will Bristol Palin be Cut from the line up"? Find out, on the next... (whatever lame dancing show shes on)

As with every issue involving sex, or sexual behaviour, in the United States there is always, always, always going to be an undercurrant, either overt or covert, of Puritanism evident. This one is no different.

Gay, Bi, or Straight...matters not. One is judged by one's behaviour, or lack there of. If they're obeying the rules set forth, then there is no, or shouldn't be, any issue.

My humble opinion.
