Call Congress about the nude-o-scopes: TSA Naked scanners under heat!

www.savvytravel.net

Congress is returning for a lame duck session beginning tomorrow. Those of us active in the Travel Safety and Security forum over at FlyerTalk have developed a targeted list of Congressman to contact and voice our objections. This will have maximum impact if we do it on the same day.
Sheila Jackson-Lee, Chairwoman (future Ranking Member?)
(202) 225-3816 ; Charlie Dent, Ranking Member (future Chair?) (202) 225-6411

My My... just after the TSA member was being arrested for sex with a 14 year old... now the subcommittee is meeting.. I bet it is a good time to contact all the sentators on the list and tell them how we feel about these monstrosities..

Some other contactees recommended the following :
"Remember, SEnators represent your State. Talking points should also be from a state perspective: violation of state laws (research your Penal Code), shutting down commerce in your state because people are refusing to fly, violation of 4th Amendment and don't forgot the dangers of radiation, etc."

and

"
I covered many points and complaints, but when I raised the issue that the new policies not only 1. violated a citizen's 4th amendment rights of being free from unreasonable searches making the policies unconstitutional, but that the policies also 2. violated State Penal Codes (in TX the groping legally qualifies as assault: Penal Code 22.01 and child molestation laws), the young man responded with a "hhhhmmmm" as if the info was new to him.

The last point I covered was citizens being threatened with Civil Suits carrying a $10K fine for not complying with TSA's screening after being escorted from the screening area and airport as an act of threat, coercion and punishment. The young man stated, "Really?".

I concluded that Sen. Dorgan and Congress needed to be aware that the People have reached their tipping point, and that the observed reaction, from my vantage point, is making the health care response look like child's play."

It seems that this is running at full throtle all over the web.. Time to get involved and tell the 'Man' how you feel..

Excellent suggestion for a letter. I think everyone should send this in.

Is there really an opposing point of view?

Are people going to be sending letters to their congressmen asking for more pat-downs of private parts? Or to be exposed to more radiation?

It's a bit overbearing. I can't even bring some water to the gate with me anymore so I have to pay some airport vendor $2.00 for a bottle of water...it's getting ridiculous!

This is the problem right here in a nutshell.

Stop calling congress. Seriously. Stop relying on congress.

If you don't like the scanners, its really simple, don't fly. As soon as their industry starts to falter they will get rid of the scanners.

What does it take for everyone to understand the root cause of all of our problems?
