Militants kidnap 7 from Exxon platform off Nigeria

(Reuters) - Nigeria's main militant group said on Tuesday it was behind an attack on an Exxon Mobil oil platform and it had kidnapped seven Nigerian workers, the second such raid for which it has claimed responsibility in a week.

This is going to start getting rather expensive for ExxonMobil. If enough rigs can be captured. I'm not sure how many rigs they have in the Nigerian Delta, but it is a relatively high producing underwater field. I'm guessing there are probably several rigs out there owneed by American companies, and they are probably in the same danger.

This has the making of a mini-oil shock, and with qe2, could just send prices soaring on speculation based on threat assessment(whether that assessment is competent is another story).
