2012 Nothing is still Something

It is the year 1999...

A man in his 40's commits suicide due to stress. The cause of stress was the Y2K computer issue. Some people believed they would die. Some people rioted. Some people thought our computer systems were going to crash. A big part of the world was consumed with an underlying anxiety that "something might happen".

It is the year 2012...
A few months before December.

Again, the masses have this underlying axiety that "something might happen". This is particularly due to the media. The heads of millions filled with things like "The Mayan Calander", "Aliens", "God", "The rapture", even the movie "2012" and more. All adding up to thoughts way more powerful than computers crashing.

Leading up to the 21st (or whatever date you believe), there will be rioting, death, suicide, and chaos.
This i believe as fact, even if nothing happens on the date of said event. To me this is partly because people are already under a lot of stress and this date could be scary to some, but used as an excuse for others.

What would you do if you thought it was the end? or Rapture? or Aliens?
You might be very frightened as the date closes in.

It is my belief that if nothing happens, it will be a very eye-opening experience for a lot of the world. Nothing is still something. Imagine thinking you were going to die and then............. nothing.
Life continues but you are left with an overwhelming view of the beauty of life because it could have vanished.
You were saved, and given another chance. You value life more than you have ever known.

Could this be the purpose behind 2012? To make us think it could all be over, just to show us how we aren't appreciating life enough as a species. Could this really be the doing of ETs? To show us a new direction? To show us not to take advantage of life because it could be gone just like that? Could it all be just to bring us closer?

So if we don't see any major tangible event happen, than we can at least be satisfied to know that maybe we can value life more. Maybe we can live a little better. Maybe this is the first step in a new evolution of man.

Nice way of putting it my friend, ur right, and why iff the date on the mayan calendar is the end of "pisces". Maybe it ways a calendar for the pisces age..

Good post. I´ve thought the same thing. That if this date in Mayan clander wasn´t this date in our calander or it never ment to say anything about rapid changes in the world, even then this date is not meaningless anymore. So, maybe it´s not that important anymore, what Mayas meant by this, but what our collective councious plus media plus internet are creating for this date. I think it´s great, that we have this one date and so many thoeries, expectetions, speculations around it, because it might be like some kind of rite of passage for humanity. When millions of people are talking about the end of the world (whatever kind of end), for years, and reading about it, discussing it, and the day comes - what will we crate with our thoughts? Both globally and in our personal lives.

But if I see things going bad, some huge destruction coming, then I think it might be best choice to sit down and meditate. If I´m going to die anyway, then I´d like to do it peacefully

based upon the number of ATS members that have absolutely no belief that 2012 will bring anything, and the even more number of people in the world that have no expectaions of 2012 bringing anything but the same they are getting today, I would have to say that I don't see 'nothing' happening as having any effect on the world at large.

I also don't see some magical awakening of consciousness throughtout the global population. all I see is more ignorant people spawning even more ignorant children.

in my opinion the only way there would be a more conscious world would be if the greater population was somehow wiped off the planet.

either by our own hand, some off world threat, or a cataclysmic change here on Earth, there has to be some event that causes the remaining people to wake up and realize that we need to overcome the oppression of an elite few that rule us all(bankers, politician, TPTB, whatever you want to call them)

I used to fear something would happen in the coming years that would be bad for us all, but at this point I find it to be the only solution to the problems that we face on a daily basis.

my thoughts exactly, everytime i engage someone in a discussion on 2012 and i hear them say they think itll be nothing this is the exact point i always make to them, i also ask them if they can think of any prophecies or predictions well known which target dates later then 2012, cause it seems like the be all end all of the big long known predictions

Not sure I agree with the the OP on this one. Some people with some mental issues may unfortunately end their own lives, but what makes you think people would riot and kill? Surely the majority of the people who believed the world was going to end would be with their loved ones?

I don't believe any of, I think its absolute tripe and I don't think you will see any of the drama you are predicting as those people would feel pretty stupid and spend the rest of their lives in prison when they wake up on the 22nd and its a beautiful snowy saturday morning to do some more christmas shopping.

Good thoughts in here! The beauty of this scenario is that something will happen, even if it's based around global hype and not a real threatening event! Personally I find there seems like way too many coincidences surrounding 2012 for nothing to happen anyway, but i'm not the least bit scared, in fact I'm looking forward to see how this possible 'global reality show' is going to play out, or if the 'global reality show' is going to get f**ked up and a real massive event takes place!

Whatever happens, I appreciate life and our Mother Earth, but something still NEEDS to happen to wake the rest of the hypnotized population up - or maybe these are the people that will destroy each other in a global panic to clear the path for a renewed global wisdom to take form... at this point it's hard to tell whether it's genuine prophecy, or whether it's a man made agenda... or whether it's a genuine prophecy mounted with a man made agenda lol! Only the time will tell ;-)

It happens repeatedly with those who predict the end of the world. Sadly, in many cases it doesn't stop them or open their eyes or even serve as cause to recognize their errant beliefs. Failed doomsday predictions are common on this site and elsewhere in the world. Those obsessed with the end of the world or other catastrophes will ALWAYS find themselves a new date to fawn over. Only the dates change, but rarely the people.

Anyone can predict the end of the world, this has been going on for hundreds of thousands of years, the funny part is these doomsayers are saying that that everything on earth will be destroyed but we should spend our money and prepare, I would like to know for what? Yep build those shelters, buy those books, spend, spend, spend, hey why not when the end comes you won't be needing that money anyway.

The Mayans didn't even actually predict the end of the world on 12-21-2012, just a period of darkness for humanity. There's nothing that literally says the world will end on that date. The prophets who predicted that the world would end in the early 21st century were probably merely alluding to the Mayan prediction and assuming, as people tend to do, that the world will end in or around that period of darkness. Intrestingly enough, a solar eclipse is predicted for that date.
Furthermore, its probably not correct to say the Mayan calendar runs out on 12-21-2012. The Mayan calendar actually runs on a cycle. I can't remember how many years are in the cycle, but I know that the last time it 'ran out' was around the year 1500 ce when the Mayan empire was destroyed by the Spanish.
I honestly don't even think we will see any reaction from humanity on that date at all. There was supposed to be rioting when the year 2000 began, because of widespread panic about the Y2K bug. Was there any? Not in the least. I think people are learning to control their irrational fears.

The difference between y2k and 2012 is that y2k was not really prophecised by ancients and was a construct of modern scientific speculation. 2012 on the other hand is "supported" by different ancient societies and some other stranger events like the St. Malachy visions and what not.
