David Grouchy

When and Why:
Now
The ego arises in the present moment by your very own action of Avoiding Being Already Entirely In Relationship,(to yourself).
It is written in the Upanishads that as soon as another is noticed,as soon as there is another, there is Fear.
The ego is Fear and you create it in every moment by endlessly meditating upon your sense of separation.
Fear is a Bad Thing which creates all the negative emotions.
Fear is the Opposite of Love.
So the EGO is the Loveless Narcissus.
This is the NEW TEACHING OF ADI DA.

Screw the community. I don't see the whole as greater than the sum of its parts. If individuals want to contribute to the whole, that's good, if they don't, that's okay too. Having the freedom to pursue your own interests is a good thing. Collectivist societies can suck it.

But you misunderstand what I'm saying, no one wants to stop you pursuing your own interests.

It's just that the system has perpetuated the ego to the point where people always put their own interest above everyone elses, which is not good for the whole in the long run, and you are part of the whole whether you like it or not, what effects the community effects you also, unless you live in isolation.

We need strong communities, without them we would not have survived as long as we have.

Rise in crime, broken families, lack of consideration of others etc., are all a result of this ego driven society. We would benefit by replacing the ego with a little altruism. Altruism is our true nature, the system we live in perpetuates the ego.

Infants as young as 18 months show altruistic behaviour, suggesting humans have a natural tendency to be helpful, German researchers have discovered.
In experiments reported in the journal Science, toddlers helped strangers complete tasks such as stacking books.
Young chimps did the same, providing the first direct evidence of altruism in non-human primates.
Altruism may have evolved six million years ago in the common ancestor of chimps and humans, the study suggests.
