That night was hard on Kevin. He had a headache all night and got fewer than 2 or 3 hours of sleep at best. His dreams were so vivid and remarkable
that he woke several times just to get out of the dream scape. The most vivid of all was seeing the little doctors working on something in their
cavern laboratory. The details were astounding. The instrumentation was very complex and control panels and monitor screens were all well lit and he
could see on them the area of his school. They seemed to be watching some sort of scenario at his school the next day. He kept remembering that
feeling of disconnection from his body when Roy Manson had hit him in the head with that big rock. Each time his head would throb just a bit to
remind him that while he was not dead he was still injured.
When Kevin awoke the next day his mother Mary had a look of shock on her face. Come here Gene she said as Kevin passed her in the kitchen. Look at the
back of the boy's head. Gene approached and could see the serious bruise on the back of Kevin's head. They questioned Kevin and he would only say that
he had fallen coming home from school near the train tracks. This satisfied his parents and he reasoned that he should tell them no more or they would
want to call the Manson boys parents and there would be an ugly scene. How would he explain about having his head caved in and then being restored to
life and the fatal injury repaired by mysterious beings. It was just too much to contemplate.
On his way to school the other kids were all talking to each other in whispers. He could here them in his mind of course and could tell that they were
all wondering how he was not dead or even seemingly badly injured. He heard that word again witch. He must be some kind of witch. Not again Kevin
thought.
He was thinking to himself that since he was still very sore and not quite healed all the way he should not try and confront those Manson boys again
until he was more himself. This was not to be it seems. Rumor was all around school that Kevin had returned from the dead. He was being called a witch
and even worse the anti-Christ. This last one disturbed him the most. What did this mean anti-Christ? He wondered to himself. Kevin decided that he
would need to study on these subjects so he could understand the meaning.
Kevin's parents were not Christians and so he had not ever been to church and was not baptized. His parents publicly called themselves Agnostics.
Privately they called themselves Saucerians. They believed that humans had been created as a servant race by more advanced beings in the distant past.
This belief was likely due to the recessive Nephilim genes they both possessed.
Once at school he was headed to his locker and could see out of the corner of his eye the 3 Manson brothers whispering to themselves. He quieted his
mind to listen to their thoughts. The brothers all seemed astonished to see Kevin at school that was clear. They were also from a very religious
family and they were discussing the rumor that Kevin was some kind of witch. His parents did not belong to any church so perhaps the rumor was true
they thought. The oldest one Gerry lead the brothers and some of their friends to confront Kevin while he was in his locker. As if they had not done
enough already Kevin thought to himself. Kevin was growing angry sensing their approach. He did not want this confrontation. He was sore from the head
injury and angry at the names they were calling him behind his back and now this.
As Gerry Manson approached, Kevin felt his hair begin to stand up on the back of his neck. His gut began to feel a kind of twitching just below his
naval. He could see in the tiny mirror in his locker Gerry lifting his hand raising it to push him from behind. Just as the boy's hand was about to
hit Kevin square between the shoulder blades Kevin moved smoothly to the side rotating away. At that same moment he positioned the locker door so the
edge of the door was just in the right spot so that when Gerry had put his energy into that push he missed Kevin and fell forward very hard into the
partly open locker and right into the edge of the steel locker door. The sound was so loud that everyone turned to see Gerry reeling from the pain.
Gerry fell backwards into his other brothers and their friends. Kevin turned closed his locker and locked it while everyone was looking at Gerry on
the floor and then walked quietly away as all of the kids in the hallway looked both at him and at the now injured young Manson boy.
Kevin could not help but smile a little and think to himself, well at least I am not the only one with a sore head today.
