I would have to say that in a sense both are true. This story like any fiction takes place in a sort of alternate reality. It is based on real people and real events but the outcomes of those events are scripted in such a way as to obscure the reality while taking full advantage of the realistic nature of the authors recall. It makes the story seem like the recall of actual events in reality. Thanks for reading and commenting.

That night was hard on Kevin. He had a headache all night and got fewer than 2 or 3 hours of sleep at best. His dreams were so vivid and remarkable that he woke several times just to get out of the dream scape. The most vivid of all was seeing the little doctors working on something in their cavern laboratory. The details were astounding. The instrumentation was very complex and control panels and monitor screens were all well lit and he could see on them the area of his school. They seemed to be watching some sort of scenario at his school the next day. He kept remembering that feeling of disconnection from his body when Roy Manson had hit him in the head with that big rock. Each time his head would throb just a bit to remind him that while he was not dead he was still injured.

When Kevin awoke the next day his mother Mary had a look of shock on her face. Come here Gene she said as Kevin passed her in the kitchen. Look at the back of the boy's head. Gene approached and could see the serious bruise on the back of Kevin's head. They questioned Kevin and he would only say that he had fallen coming home from school near the train tracks. This satisfied his parents and he reasoned that he should tell them no more or they would want to call the Manson boys parents and there would be an ugly scene. How would he explain about having his head caved in and then being restored to life and the fatal injury repaired by mysterious beings. It was just too much to contemplate.

On his way to school the other kids were all talking to each other in whispers. He could here them in his mind of course and could tell that they were all wondering how he was not dead or even seemingly badly injured. He heard that word again witch. He must be some kind of witch. Not again Kevin thought.

He was thinking to himself that since he was still very sore and not quite healed all the way he should not try and confront those Manson boys again until he was more himself. This was not to be it seems. Rumor was all around school that Kevin had returned from the dead. He was being called a witch and even worse the anti-Christ. This last one disturbed him the most. What did this mean anti-Christ? He wondered to himself. Kevin decided that he would need to study on these subjects so he could understand the meaning.

Kevin's parents were not Christians and so he had not ever been to church and was not baptized. His parents publicly called themselves Agnostics. Privately they called themselves Saucerians. They believed that humans had been created as a servant race by more advanced beings in the distant past. This belief was likely due to the recessive Nephilim genes they both possessed.

Once at school he was headed to his locker and could see out of the corner of his eye the 3 Manson brothers whispering to themselves. He quieted his mind to listen to their thoughts. The brothers all seemed astonished to see Kevin at school that was clear. They were also from a very religious family and they were discussing the rumor that Kevin was some kind of witch. His parents did not belong to any church so perhaps the rumor was true they thought. The oldest one Gerry lead the brothers and some of their friends to confront Kevin while he was in his locker. As if they had not done enough already Kevin thought to himself. Kevin was growing angry sensing their approach. He did not want this confrontation. He was sore from the head injury and angry at the names they were calling him behind his back and now this.

As Gerry Manson approached, Kevin felt his hair begin to stand up on the back of his neck. His gut began to feel a kind of twitching just below his naval. He could see in the tiny mirror in his locker Gerry lifting his hand raising it to push him from behind. Just as the boy's hand was about to hit Kevin square between the shoulder blades Kevin moved smoothly to the side rotating away. At that same moment he positioned the locker door so the edge of the door was just in the right spot so that when Gerry had put his energy into that push he missed Kevin and fell forward very hard into the partly open locker and right into the edge of the steel locker door. The sound was so loud that everyone turned to see Gerry reeling from the pain. Gerry fell backwards into his other brothers and their friends. Kevin turned closed his locker and locked it while everyone was looking at Gerry on the floor and then walked quietly away as all of the kids in the hallway looked both at him and at the now injured young Manson boy.

Kevin could not help but smile a little and think to himself, well at least I am not the only one with a sore head today.

Kevin was in his first period English class. About half way through the class the school's principal Henry Bowmen came to the classroom door. Looking in the little glass window he was looking at his teacher Mrs. Greenly and motioned for her to come to the door. She got up from her desk and went to the door. Opening it she stuck her head out and listened to something the principal whispered to her in her ear. The principal then left and Kevin's English teacher then approached him and told him quietly that he was to report to the principal's office.

Kevin was red faced and angry now. He knew he had felt something was off and now this confirmed it. He got up picked up his books and went to Mr Bowman's office. As he entered Gerry Manson, his 2 brothers and 3 of their friends were just leaving. Mr Bowman motioned for Kevin to come into his office. Gerry had a noticeable welt running the length of his forehead from the impact on the locker door.

Have a seat Mr. McCormick he said while pointing to the chair in front of his desk. Kevin I must tell you that these boys that just left my office have leveled some serious charges against you. They say that you beat up Roy Manson after gym class yesterday and that when Gerry went to confront you about it today that you smashed his head with your locker door. Based on the weight of the evidence I have to think that they are telling the truth. I ask you is this the case?

Kevin was shaking his head and said that none of these things happened like those boys said. The facts were that those 3 brothers had ganged up on him yesterday off of school grounds and that was after Roy Manson had attacked him in the gym after basketball practice. He said he had not laid a finger on Roy Manson but that it was Roy that came after him.

Mr Bowman was shaking his head now. He just said I had hoped you would come clean. This story of yours is not supported by any of the facts. Roy Manson showed several bruises on his wrists and Gerry had an obvious welt on his head from a locker door. Everyone in the hallway said they saw the locker door hit his head and that you just walked away. If it had been some kind of accident why had Kevin walked away from the scene?

He stopped talking and picked up his phone. He instructed the school secretary to call the police and to call Kevin's parents. He ask Kevin to wait in the detention room. Kevin was walking to the detention room and was wondering what to do here. The police were on their way he realized. His dad would be called away from work and would likely be furious. This day just kept getting worse and worse.

First the police arrived. They spoke to the principal first and then spoke to the Manson boys and their friends and got their statements. Then Kevin's mother arrived. Then his father arrived. They both spoke to the police and they were informed of the charges. They said they wanted a lawyer for their son. Because he was a juvenile they said he would likely not be charged as an adult but that the circuit court judge that handled these cases was not due for about a week. His parents were furious and said that no way can their son be held in an adult jail. Kevin was instructed by his dad not to speak to the police or give any statement. He was handcuffed and taken from the school in a police cruiser.

The officer that escorted Kevin out said that he was sorry to have to take him out of the school like this but that the charges against him were very serious. Kevin would spend the next week in a jail cell by himself. His parents came to visit him every day after work.

Kevin was sitting in his jail cell wondering what to do with himself. He was told that it would be about a week before the juvenile justice would be in town. This was a small community and did not get very many of these youth offender cases. Kevin had a visit from his lawyer. His dad had arranged for a lawyer and it had cost him about half of the money they had saved for college for the kids. Because he was a juvenile he was not going to get a jury trial. A judge would hear the case and there would be a ruling. Kevin was truly sorry he had allowed the confrontation to take place. He should have used his powers of perception to avoid the Manson boy he thought.

His second day in jail he was bored to tears just about. Then he heard a man singing in the hallway and could hear the sounds of wheels of a cart of some kind. Kevin then saw a man outside his cell dressed in a blue coverall pushing a cart loaded with books. He was an African American man about 58 years of age named Eugene Jones. His coverall had the word “ORDERLY” printed on the front and back. Eugene introduced himself to young Kevin. Then made the comment, “you seem a little short in the britches to be locked up in here”. What you do boy? Kevin then told him that he was here because some boys made up a story that he had hurt one of them. Eugene nodded his head understandingly and said 'They was bearing false witness again you were they?” Kevin looked puzzled. Eugene looked at his expression and said “you aint never heard of bearing false witness have you?” Kevin shook his head indicating no. Eugene then looked on the cart full of books and picked up a black covered book with gold trim and held it up to Kevin. This here is the New International Version of the Holy Bible. You go and read this and it will explain all that type of stuff to you.

Kevin took the bible from Eugene as he passed it through the bars to his cell and then Eugene shook his head up and down and said “you being such a young man and being in this kind of mess you best to read that bible from cover to cover while you is sitting here waiting on the judge. Kevin opened the bible and started reading.

1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3  ¶ And God said, Let there be light: 2 Cor. 4.6 and there was light.

Kevin took 2 days to get through Genesis. It was to him the most boring part of the entire exercise but he was determined to finish this book so he could understand what these Christians were talking about when they called him the anti-Christ. Perhaps this God could help him understand what was going on with him.

Kevin was on his second day when he got to Genesis 6,4 where it says “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown” Kevin was drawn to this passage and then later on it was discussed again in Numbers 13,33 but in this bit these Nephilim were described as giants. It seemed a bit of a contradiction as though the meaning was lost with the passage of time.

Throughout the bible from Exodus to Deuteronomy there were mentions of witchcraft. It seemed to Kevin that anyone who seemed gifted and was not a church certified and consecrated holy man was considered a witch. Fear and superstition were common among both early and modern Christians and other religions as well it seemed to him.

The figure of Jesus Christ was most interesting in the bible to him. Jesus worked wonders and miracles and it seemed that these powers came from the spirit of God that dwells within him. In John 14:12 it says “ Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Kevin wondered if this was the source of his gifts as well but then later in Revelations 13:3 it said “One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed.” This gave Kevin a bit of concern and made him wonder. Is this the passage that these Christians were referring to when they called him the antichrist.

His guidance was reassuring him that these people were ignorant and superstitious but he could not shake the concern that perhaps they were somehow right. It kept him up on that last night in jail. The following day he went to see the judge. His case was to finally be heard. He was for some reason very calm and confident remembering the 9th commandment from Exodus which says “tho shalt not bear false witness.” Now he knew what it meant and he would focus on that when he would face his accusers.

Kevin was taken into court without handcuffs. As he was to come before the judge he saw the Manson boys with their parents. He focused his attention on his accusers Gerry and Roy. As he focused his attention on them he remembered the passage from Luke 17:21 and thought because the kingdom of God is within you I ask the presence of God that must therein dwell to command his servant to obey the 9th commandment and not bear false witness against me. He felt a presence within him that was like a glowing light of love and warmth and compassion. He then felt this presence connect with the same presence within both of the Manson boys. The 2 boys visibly shook from the experience and look straight at him with a look of fear mixed with sorrow. At that moment Kevin was sure that they had been convicted by the holy spirit. They would not be able to conceal their lies in front of this judge and their parents he was sure.

It made him smile and made him almost glow from the energy he felt inside himself. What ever this God presence was it sure certainly seemed real now to him. The judge brought the court to order and just as the judge ask the district attorney for his opening arguments the 2 Manson boys piped up at the same time and ask to speak to the assistant DA. Leaning over whispering they spoke to their parents and to the lawyer and told them both they had lied and feared for the wrath of the lord if they gave false testimony in this case. The judge called the attorneys on the case to the bench and after a very brief discussion dismissed the case.

The Manson boys were allowed to remain free but would face both civil and criminal penalties in this case. In the end the Manson family had to repay the McCormick family for the court cost and their attorney fees. This had been Kevin thought a valuable lesson on how the legal world as well as spiritual worlds work. Kevin could not return to that school though. Not because they forbid it but because he could not take the name calling and superstitious nonsense any longer. Kevin went to live with an Aunt and Uncle in Kentucky for the remainder of the year.

Gene loved the country and seeing his aunt and uncle again was a treat. Their place was fantastic. They had horses a few cows and chickens. Their place was no more than 20 acres just outside of Stanton Ky. Kevin's uncle Henry David McCormick was his dad's youngest brother. His aunt Elizabeth Louise was a lovely lady and loved young Kevin very much. Both his aunt and uncle were attorneys in Lexington Ky. They had a rather long commute each day so Kevin had time to himself but there was a lot to do on their little ranchette. Kevin was glad to be there and his aunt and uncle were glad to have the help.

Kevin took up residence in their pool house. It was spacious and well equipped with a pool table, private bathroom, bedroom and even a kitchenette. The pool was both lit and heated. The weather was just starting to get chilly in early October when Kevin arrived. His first night as he lay in bed enjoying the sound of the crickets and watching the moon rise he felt a great sense of peace. That spirit he had felt inside of him was still there. It had a warm glow he could see in his mind's eye. Kevin was drifting off to sleep and the wind was blowing the trees outside and then the wind began to blow a bit harder.

There was a blue green glow coming off of the pool outside from the lights in the pool. The light started to change in color and become more green than blue. As it got brighter Kevin was nearly asleep and then he felt a kind of paralysis come over him. Then there was that rushing water sound and the pop of his ears and he realized he had been transported to the cavern laboratory of the watchers. He was on the table and the little doctors were looking down at him. He felt that peace inside and focused on the presence within him. That divine spark was speaking to him.

Kevin could hear the little doctors talking to him in his mind as well. They were very proud of him and wanted to tell him that he was now ready for the start of the transformation. His body was going to change rapidly over the next few years. His backup spoke to him in his mind. He listened but then went further to activate the divine presence within his double. He then had a shock that woke him up and he found himself back in his bed in the pool house at his aunt and uncle's place. Kevin could now see that there was more going on here than he had ever dreamed. His mission in this life was finally being revealed to him. He was in for an astonishing life.

Thanks for the story. You really had me hooked ...especially at the beginning. I was born an Air Force brat during the same year as Kevin...but that is pretty much where the similarity ends other then I have never felt like I fit in here. I do share some very similar character traits to Kevin but without any super-powers, my life has been much more "normal". Thanks again for keeping us entertained with your story.

I am glad you enjoyed the story. There is enough storyline in my notes for 3 books. This first story will be expanded into a full book. Most of the story will be the same but the character development will be more advanced than in this short version.

The story timeline from here at age 15 until Kevin is 18 will be in the second book. In the second volume Karen Fisher who is another of the Nephilim children will be developed into a love interest with Kevin and her life and character will be filled out much as Kevin's was in this first part of the story.

In the third book their adult relationship will be developed and their purpose here will be revealed. Other of the Nephilim children from Project Cobalt Glass will also be brought into this third volume. I will leave it open for more in the future should I be allowed by time and resources to complete the work that far. I will have the full release of the first book available on my site. wayouttheredude.com before June of this year if all goes well.

With the commercial works I will be able to afford to pay an editor so the whole reading will be more enjoyable for everyone. Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting on this story. I enjoyed writing it.

My editor has been reviewing this thread. She has already said that she likes the response to the story so she is likely going to take the deal I offered. Now she will see that at least we will sell one book.

I just noticed some parallels between your post content and some of the features in my short story. My main character Kevin is a product of fiction but is based on an aggregate of factual people and events in part. This creates a sense of reality in the fiction which makes it read worthy. I did enjoy your thread and gave you a flag.

I really only work for myself, and the universal mind, and universal spirit of course.
