I'm very close to throwing my 200 year old family bible, on display under the cross, in the trash can
Newer bible for reading on top (Because the 200 year old version has brittle pages)

Removing the cross hanging on the wall, inside the front doorway

And removing my American Flag over my front entrance way

Is this a mistake?

If so why?

Am I clinging onto outdated ideas?

Don't throw away,or burn anything.

Just put them into a box,and store them away.

And let yourself out of the box.

Nothing has to be destroyed in your freeing yourself.

I agree. I have not been a Christian for well over a decade, but I still have a bible. Just box em up. No need to throw it all away.

If you fail to develop your own personal understanding of God, that's up to you.

What are you feeling is wrong with your beliefs anyway?

Honestly, we really shouldn't care and we shouldn't need to explain "why" you should do anything, make up your own mind.

Funny it does feel like a box

Burning the lot at once would feel better though I think

It is always wise to keep mementos of the trip to where one finds one's self close by.

That way one can remember the path they took to get where they are.

History is too often lost.

I would keep them, or at least maybe ebay. Might be someone willing to pay a lot for the book, if you are determined to rid it from your life.

I think you need to follow your gut feeling on this one. It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.

An observation - these are all symbols of 'external' influences, which have had value for you in the past. Perhaps this is about you now learning to rely more on 'internal' influences...my personal belief being the 'internal' wisdom is the only reliable one.

Why it's just an old book that liars use to get ahead

No need to be uncouth.

We all have an idea of the truth.

What can one do?,it's such an old game.

We can only promise ourselves,we will not do the same.

I have done the same in ideology - - but please don't destroy family treasures.

Its OK to just pack them away safely preserved. You never know when your path will change or a close family member is on the one you just left.

That is not always the case. Some of us are more than willing to make ourselves look like fools to share what we think might be of value, so I say no need to throw the WHOLE thing out. The flag too, you have to put that on the shelf or all is lost! Who knows what the future will bring, we still have a whole new century before us, and what "they" came up with, didn't work. We now know for certain what doesn't work. By contrast, that's half the blueprint for success. I say put the whole thing in a box and stick it in the attic, or the basement, wherever. Some day you might even have a reason to go get that box and crack open that flag AND bible, ya never know since anything is possible.

Be warned, not believing in anything will make you free.

Most people do not take witnessing the freedom of another well.

Be discreet,.

I just lied to you all it's from 1880.

So that only makes it 130 years old, not 200.

Did any liars use your particular 200 year old family history bible to get ahead? Don't burn it. If you need to get rid of it, give it to a responsible family member. History is more important that you think. You may regret burning it one day. Who knows? Just my thoughts.
