Implications of Iranian guards deported?

Soo it seems that Iran is activley attempting espionage in the USA...are we suprised....of course they were.

What motives could they have to engauge in such actions?

Was the US responce appropriate?

How serious is this incident? More diplomatic than actual espionage?

I think this could be a diplomatic tit for tat move or a political ousting to help reinforce that the administration is serious about keeping its eye on Iran.
