This is probably the greatest conspiracy OF ALL TIME.

We were so close to nuclear war and no-one knew.

Had Reagan actually carried on the war game then we could all be annihilated. However, good did come out of this - this closeness to MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) did prompt the collapse of communism.

I saw this program after visiting a local "bunker" - now owned by English Heritage and the guide did say that something massive happened in the 1980s but senior military personnel visiting this bunker [both from the UK and later from Eastern European countries] would not say what this was.

8th of November 1983? Thats my birthday down to the year.

Is this show a fictional account, or events that really took place?

You have me interested and I'll check it out.

That would be just my luck, being born the day the world ended.

Watched "The War Game" Scary lefty propaganda. There is one hysterically funny line in part one. When the tell the woman to expect ten evacuees and she says:

"What am I going to feed them on?................. Are the colored?"

ROTF!!!!!!

Living through the 80's I think most people expected nuclear war to break out every few months. It really affected people.

Just look how bad the music was.

Yes i grew up in the cold war during the 70s and 80s. I expected to be nuked during this time. Scary times. People dont know how lucky they are not living under that fear every single day. i know today we live with the possibilty of dirty bombs etc by terrorists. Anyway if people really want to get an understanding of the fear and effect of nuclear war then you need to watch Threads. Not for the faint hearted and you not sleep for many nights after watching this but well worth it and makes you want to pray that nuclear war will never ever take place.
