Woman Is Singled out by the TSA, Cuffed to a Chair, Her Ticket Ripped up For refusing Body Scan

www.youtube.com

The TSA chose Meg McLain for special screening. They wanted her to go through the new porno-scanners. When she opted out, TSA agents raised an enormous ruckus. When she asked some question about what they planned to do to her, they flipped out. TSA agents yelled at her, handcuffed her to a chair, ripped up her ticket, called in 12 local Miami cops and finally escorted her out of the airport. Listen to her story as she told it on radio show Free Talk Live last night. Things are truly getting scary

I am absolutely appalled and disgusted at how this woman was treated. How in the world did they manage to handcuff her to a chair and proceed to yell at her for 30 min, and not arrest her?

All because she decided not to get body scanned, as she was the ONLY person to be randomly selected for the scan. Not to mention all the passengers that walked by UNCHECKED because all the attention was focused on her. 12 cops and 7 tsa agents for ONE woman? Absolutely disgusting.

I guess homeland security has alot of ways to void your civil rights. I will post the entire video below.

This may happen to me soon [in opting out of these scanners] also Delta just called me a few hours ago asking for information on my license. I'll probably just hand it to my mother and have her take care of it but I'm just wondering why they need to update it? They "saw" me just a few months ago it's not I haven't flown in years.

My best guess as to why they did this is [raised a ruckus] is probably to make her look bad I suppose? Things sure are getting interesting with the new scanners...

Just like all people in positions of authority, the TSA agents do not like to be challenged. They expect you to do anything they tell you and believe in their mind, they control you.

Quick story of my run in with the TSA. Some friends and I were flying to Mexico and we got to the screening area. A friend had a couple of steel rods in his lower leg from a tib/fib break and was immediately stopped and flagged. He had all the proper paper work to explain the steel rods in his leg but they wouldn't let him thru. They held him in a holding area beyond the screening area. I approached this area to try to get some info and they grabbed me and started yelling at me as though I was trying to break my buddy out. At this point they held me as well in the same little booth. Other TSA agents would come and talk to this one guy in charge and I could hear them talk and say they should let us go and continue on but this SOB wouldn't let us go. When I asked him why he was holding us illegally (I really emphasized "illegally"), he said "when you are in my airport, I own you"! After about 30 minutes they let us go on and a lady with the TSA that brought my friends paperwork back said they just had to verify his papers. So this whole holding, yelling, etc. was all some psychological game these people play. All they had to do is say kindly that they were checking him out and we would have to wait a little. Instead they made it out like we were criminals or drug trafficers. It was humiliating and really made you feel helpless.

These incidents are becoming more and more frequent with the new rules in place. Before long, everyone will stop or significantly reduce their air travel and the airlines will be in trouble again financially. I guess we can expect another bailout for the airlines in another year or two.

Any other sources on this? Valid sources, not "Free Talk Radio" and Alex Jones' "Prison Planet".

I am suspicious of the phrase "...they tore her ticket up..."

Who has a ticket anymore? No one. E-tickets. You have a Boarding Pass issued, on the basis of the e-ticket.

There is more to this, and it might have a lot to do with HER.

...it hard for me to have sympathy for anyone that gets harassed by the tsa thugs - because - if people had stopped flying commercial when this nazi crap started 9yrs ago, we wouldnt be as deep into crap's creek as we are today...

man what has happened to us. it is said, flying is the safest way to travel* statisticly. Dosnt seem like it anymore hugh? ever sine bush was in office and the twin towers coming down, all this stuff has been being forced on us. its globalization and the new world order being slipped into place. technology being more impoartant than the human soul, ruling over all of us, so the few by compariosn, can be wealthy.
she really should sue the hell outta TSA> were suposed to be looking for osama bin laden! and instead, the system here has turned this terrorist watch and enforcement on its own people. I wonder if thier trying to crash the air travel industry slowly, so it isnt as obvious, ya know? more laid off workers. whats next? these porno scanners on trains, and in taxi cabs?
its un american. American* meaning truth jsutice and freedom. seems like governement and corporations have 0 interest in holding up too. they can do this,g et away with murder, harrasssment, rape, ect ect...and get off scott free. unlike this poor woman, being treated like a 2nd or 3rd grade citizen. they got NO morals or affection, let alone no people skills. maybe geurilla warfare tactic skills yeah, but since when was it buisness terms to harrass a customer? its called BAD business skills, and is what causes a store to close* maybe something should be done similar so TSA has to shut it doors forever

Hell, if it was me..ide get everyone together on the TSA plane, and in protest of the porno scanner, everyone deficiate on the seats, its easy to make an excuse. leave someone in the bathroom, and it jsu so happened EVERYONE had to go at the same time. they cannot arrest you for having to go the bathroom in an emergency
let the dim lit minds at TSA figure out whats going on

or hell! everyone stand up for the entire trip and protest out loud! that would gain lots of media coverage, at least for a few days til tis forgotten.
or even better...everyone gets angry at the same time, and storm-bum rushes the porno scanner, knocking it over so it breaks. I wonder if htiers some electrical gadget one can hide easily on or in them, so when near the scanner, it will burn its cuircuitry out undetected*
just some ideas i just conjured up. America is becoming less and less about truth liberty and freedom. its upt o us to care* since our leaders dont.

And how exactly would you suggest that people traverse vast distances? If not commercial planes then what? Paying 60,000 to 250,000 USD to take a private jet where they want to go? Or how about they just take a steam boat across the Atlantic, now thats moving forward.

Really? So a person explaining what happened to them ON TAPE isnt a valid source anymore? Oh and FYI whacker, I flew a month ago overseas and me and everyone in my party had nice shiny PAPER TICKETS and boarding passes.

They most likely tore her boarding pass, as this would have been issued to her at the check in counter before screening.

There is more to this? Please show me where, as I would love to research this in depth.

People should really watch / listen to the video,

"Meg" is sometimes a co-host on the show.

Yeah, there's a really realiable source for ya.

As I always say, there are two sides to every story and the "victim" usually
tends to go overboard with their explanation.

Im sorry, how exactly Meg being a co-host on the show invalidate what she is saying? Please show how this source is not reliable. Sure there are both sides to a story, no disputing that.

Also I recall reading that mods are not allowed to post in threads that they have moderated or taken action on. Is this correct?

...no citizen is FORCED to travel... its a choice... those who choose to travel via commerical airlines are, in effect, supporting nazi tactics...

...try to look at it this way... why would someone continually return to a cafe that served lousy food and encouraged its employees to be as obnoxious as they pleased?... a person would have to be insane to return to that cafe, right?...

...its the same deal with the airlines...

Listen I understand the point you are trying to make here.

Sure people aren't "forced" to travel. But lets look at an example. Lets say someone lives in the US, and their relative just died in Europe. He is informed that there is a funeral in 3 days that he MUST attend. How is this person gonna get to Europe? Of course he will take a commercial plane.

Do you see what Im getting at? Sure we arent forced to travel per se, but what alternatives would one have in such a situation??

I'm sure something like her story happened but I'm not so convinced it happened exactly like she said. On one hand, anyone who thinks airport security agents don't overstep their bounds or sail around on ego trips from time to time is sadly mistaken. So I'm not saying her story is improbable. Similar situations happen all the time.

However, she essentially implied 'twisting the breasts' in a manual pat down is standard. I could tell she wasn't very confident in this 'fact' and she shouldn't be. Again, not to say this hasn't or doesn't happen, but it is far from standard procedure and a security agent can lose their job if they think their position gives them a free pass to sexually molest passengers.

So I was kind of rolling my eyes at the 'They will grab, pinch, and twist my breasts!'

But I do stand against the full body scanners. No idea what really happened since we weren't there but her story does sound embellished but not entirely improbable.

You flew overseas, you just said it. Combination "tickets"/boarding passes will be encountered more often on international flights...depends on the carrier.

The days of the old "paper ticket" (the ones with the "red carbon" on the back, for copies) are long gone. They were incredibly expensive for the airlines, as overhead...because aoutside parties had to be used, as a "clearing house", since they handled coupons (they were called) from many different airlines. It is all electronically record-kept, nowadays. Perhaps exceptions in some thrid-world countries....

People "think" it's ticket...but, if lost, it isn't "lost"...not like in the old days. AND, you can't sell them to someone else, like the old days. Since they have your name, and e-records identifying you....

...gemini, you're looking for a justification (excuse)... it doesnt matter if you chose a job that requires you to fly commercial or you chose a vacation that required commercial flight - its YOUR choice, plain and simple... you are either an enabler of the system or you are not...

Her being a co host could mean that she is just trying to fill in air time with an exciting story so that the segment she is on gets higher ratings. Another person who could verify what happened would be nice. Heck, she could cause a big fuss and have the security tapes played. If this actually did happen (doubtful) then there are many many ways she could verify it.

And no, nobody gets tickets any longer. You get a confirmation number either by phone or you can't print one out if you buy online. You take the confirmation to the check in, they run the number and they give you a boarding pass. The reason they did away with them is that it saves money

Regardless if this story is true or not, I won't fly commercial.
I can fly myself if I need to, but I sure a *snip* won't go through an irradiating body scanner!

The TSA can kiss this ( ! )
