Indeed, the Republicans are the best liars and deceivers since the Nazis.
The newly elected speaker John Boehner of the house claims America has the greatest health care in the world. Though according to this op-ed, the CIA has a different opinion.

www.washingtonpost.com...

For statistical refutation, we need only refer to the CIA's World Factbook (no lefty think tank, to be sure) and check the health statistics. The United States is 49th in life expectancy. Our proud nation bests the Libyans in this category but not Japan, France, Spain, Britain or, of course, Italy. You not only live about two years longer in Italy, but you eat better, too.
The same doleful situation applies to infant mortality. This is the saddest of all categories since it relates to infants who don't make it to their first birthday. The CIA tells us that the nations that do the worst in this category are, not surprisingly, mostly in Africa. Then comes much of Asia and parts of South America, but when you start getting up there a bit, Cuba does better than the United States and so do Italy, Hungary, Greece, Canada, Portugal, Britain, Australia and Israel, among others. This should be an embarrassment to us all - but, clearly, it is not. To Boehner, these figures - infants dying before they can get a cupcake with a single candle - don't exist. Rather than improve the situation, he might want to cut the CIA's appropriation.

US has some of the best healthcare facilities in the world, but you have to be rich to afford them. Also, if you haven't figured out both republicans and democrats are liars, I really do feel sorry for you.

Greatest healthcare + worst lifestyle due to the fact we're not allowed to grow/produce/butcher/sell without the FDA's gold seal. Honestly, this is the best you guys got?

Really, how can Italians who eat fresh meats from local free range herders, processed by the same people, then sold in a market be healthier than us!! They have local bakeries with brick bread ovens, produce markets instead of super Wal-Marts!! I don't see how on earth they're healthier than us!! It MUST be the healthcare and not the lifestyle.

You, my friend are in between the 'angry' stage and the 'bargaining' stage. =)

BTW: We have the best HC in the world because we have House!!!!!

Yeah the health care in the US is not as good as many other Western countries. At least for the average citizen. It has to do with the massive amounts of corruption and the fact that our government only represents the interests of the elite plutocracy. Indeed you can receive the very best healthcare in the world as long as you are a member of the elite here.

As for your republican comment, how can you be on ATS and really not see that ALL the politicians, are on the same side (not ours btw)? You had better think long and hard if you honeslty still think there is any difference between a democrat, republican, or a tea party politician.

The elite are on all sides of the game, that is how they guarantee they win. And the left right thing really is just a tool to keep you from seeing the truth. Grow beyond their brainwashing my man. In the end, all the real people in America and not the politicians, want the same thing. Freedom and prosperity right?

you are trusting the cia over boehner, cia has a much worse track record in the feild of honesty then he does.

also, things like diet have nothing to do with our healthcare, and only to do with what people choose to eat, unless you think hospitals ought to enforce diet with authoritative control.

infant death has alot more to do with parenting and care during pregnancy then it does the hospitals aid in delivering,

if you cant see these differences here, then your already doomed as it is.

Even if you disagree with the opinion that the US has the best healthcare in the world, I don't think you can just point to the CIA factbook and call it a lie. That's just being sensational. There's a million ways to measure what's best and in the end its just an opinion. We're the best at somethings and not at others. I'm dissapointed I wanted to see some demonstrably false statement or deception in this thread. All i got was the equivalent of "Obama says that the heart and soul of the american workforce are unions, but studies show that union membership has drastically decreased. OBAMA IS A LIAAAAARRR!."

If your interested in looking at comparing healthcare in the US to other countries, I reccomend you watch Michael Moore's documentary, SICKo.

One example from the movie - Its sad how our government treated some 911 responders. Well, they were not treated at all. Years after, with different conditions each, and worsening, they were unable to afford treatment in the US and went down to Cuba and got free treatment and began recovering.

Apparently, getting treatment and recovering from a Cuban hospital is taboo to our current government. Seems like they would rather have you die than get treatment....

Another thing - Both parties lie. Its all the same stuff with a different label.

Edit - You can watch the documentary on youtube if you like.

Another: Let's bash the Republicans! Thread.
Come on guys. Are you serious? They are the worst liars since the Nazis? You do understand that the Nazis were a FAR LEFT Socialist movement right?

So Republicans lie? Yes they do. Democraps like too... To a FAR greater extent!

Examples of lying "Lefties"
- Mussolini
- Hitler
- Pol Pot
- Hugo Chavez
- WHOOPI
- Obama
- Pelosi
- Reid
- Schumer
- Biden
- Stalin
- Mao

Shall I continue? Is this really the only bit of ammunition you guys have right now? "But Bush was/is a liar! He's the Devil maaaaan!" Get over it. He is no longer in office. Half of who I listed is still SELF serving in one way or another...

Oh and I would far prefer our current health care to that of Cuba, Russia, England and the NHS, or China. Let me know how that goes if you ever travel to get health care over seas. I don't think you realize how good we truly do have it! Despite the lies, deceit, and shenanigans; the United States and it's people have THE HIGHEST standard of living compared to anywhere in the World! Hey, right over there, you see that? That's the door!

You have to be rich to walk into an ER and be treated?
You have to be rich to use a Mayo Clinic?
You have to be rich to use an Urgent Care Clinic?

Sorry. You can not be turned away because of inability to pay. Also, 90% of specialists offer a payment plan.

Sicko!; has been debunked and ripped apart. He is a self full filling lunatic with about as much cred as Daniel Tosh.

Most hospitals are run for a profit, but I've seen what happens and know enough people who work in health care to knows what goes on. If you do not have insurance you will likely wait in the ER waiting room longer than someone with insurance. Even if you do have insurance, unless you are extremely wealthy those treatments at the Mayo Clinic will ruin you financially.

There have been cases of hospitals not attempting to re-attach viable limbs because the person didn't have insurance, or their policy wasn't good enough for that procedure.

You really have to have your head up your a$$ to think that health care for the average US citizen is up to par with the rest of the industrialized world.

"If you do not have insurance you will likely wait in the ER waiting room longer than someone with insurance"
Absolute BULL. This is laughable at best! When you go to the ER you are seen by the triage nurse. The triage nurse then evaluates your situation and you are called back in the order of SEVERITY of your condition.

"There have been cases of hospitals not attempting to re-attach viable limbs because the person didn't have insurance, or their policy wasn't good enough for that procedure."
This was a quote from one of Obumble's Town Hall meetings wasn't it? He also goes on to say that "Hey, instead of that surgery you can just take these pills...." Again. Another falsehood. Please. Provide me with some proof and exact cases, that have not been deemed BUNK.

I am starting to think you ignore facts to push an agenda...

"You really have to have your head up your a$$ to think that health care for the average US citizen is up to par with the rest of the industrialized world."
When you say Western Countries or Industrialized countries do you mean any of the following?

- Germany, England, France, Japan? I have LIVED for many years; per the military, and experienced first hand the Health Systems in these countries. The NHS is a disaster, ask any Brit. Germany they have massive lines and you are lucky to be seen within 24 hours of walking in. France, see England. Japan, socialized crowded medicine! See all of the above!

Any questions?

1)No but you have to be rich to afford the bill they send you. A week in the hospital slapped my pops with a bill for almost 50 grand.

2)No idea, never been there when I was in living in the states. More than likely I would have needed to be rich to get there.

3)No Idea, as far as I know there weren't any of those where I used to live.

So it sounds to me that you have a general "no idea" what you are talking about attitude towards this topic?

I am sorry to hear about your father. Have you ever considered bankruptcy? The bigger question is this though: Did they treat him? It sounds to me as if they did, regardless of ability to pay...

I have a general idea what it is like being a bluecollar guy living in the US, and what healthcare was like for me. Can't afford health insurance after paying the bills, so generally I would only go to the doctor when I was so sick I would miss work anyway.

So the issue is with the cost of healthcare, not the quality. That's 100% understandable.

The problem I have with the changes they want to enforce, is that none of that is addressed. I'm all for lowering the cost, but it has to be done from inside the system. What they pushed through in the HCR doesn't do jack crap for them charging 50 bucks for aspirin.

I too was in the service relatively recently and I did appreciate the health care provided to me I didn't abuse it like many do. Did you know an alarming people who join the service now start working on their VA disability claim as soon as they are in boot camp and make all sort of fraudulent claims in order to secure themselves free money when they get out?(that is an entirely different thread)

It is not bs, it is a fact that people with insurance in MOST hospitals will get treated quicker than someone without, given they are on the same triage level. Also someone with life threatening injuries who has insurance will most certainly get better treatment that someone without insurance at MOST hospitals.

You can argue all you want, but the root of the problem with health care in the US is it run for PROFIT which means the doctors and trustees are concerned about the bottom line which does effect the level of treatment someone without the means to pay will get.
