A conservative Muslim government minister admits he shook hands with first lady Michelle Obama in welcoming her to Indonesia but says it wasn't his choice.

Footage on YouTube shows otherwise, sparking a debate that has lit up Facebook, Twitter and the rest of the blogosphere.

"I tried to prevent (being touched) with my hands but Mrs. Michelle held her hands too far toward me (so) we touched," Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring told tens of thousands of followers on Twitter.

In the Islamic tradition, women are not supposed to shake hands with men... so doesn't this kind of prove that Obama really isn't a muslim? You would think the wife of a muslim would know this practice... unless those that care about his religion and think he's muslim actually believe that the FLOTUS doesn't know about his real religious affiliation.

yup, he isn't a Muslim.but on the subject in Islam men and women are not allowed to handshake to each other who are not related (mahram).

Of course he isn't a muslim......he spent far too much time in a racist black seperatist church to be one, and everyone knew it before they voted for him.

Contradition .... some news stories say that the Muslim minister used both hands to shake Michelle Obama's hand. That he was enthusiastic. That's not someone who was 'reluctant'. A reluctant person wouldn't reach out with both hands and do a two handed handshake. (if those stories are true .. no reason to believe otherwise at this point).

The Muslim minister campaigned on being 'conservative muslim' and he got caught shaking hands like a normal civilized person would. Now he's trying to cover his butt. It's poltiical pandering to his base ...

Speaking of pandering .. that's my guess for Obama's religion ... the religion of PANDER. He is whatever religion the people who he is speaking to at the time want him to be. Seems to fit.

Duuh touching a girl without their permission is regarded as rape, no matter where, or is it called sexual assault, I don't know, check your law.

I guess the same applies to guys, in this sense the minister was raped or assaulted by the lady Obama
