Detainees were put through 2 hour sessions. A 40 second 'limit' was not to be passed when they poured water on the detainees face.
Not only that, but the CIA started to witness a development in the detainees where they basically gave up, and allowed themselves to drown.
After reading the bottom paragraph, you can see that they were treated like experiments, or guinea pigs as the article states.
