Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., are working to understand what caused NASA's Cassini spacecraft to put itself into "safe mode," a precautionary standby mode. Cassini entered safe mode around 4 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. EDT) on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Engineers say it is not likely that Cassini will be able to resume full operations before a planned Nov. 11 flyby of Saturn's moon Titan.

Wow! Very interesting! The last time that happened was in 2007. There can be a thousand reasons why that happened, but the one in 2007:

"All the data were successfully recorded on the spacecraft. Twenty-one minutes into the first post-flyby data downlink, the spacecraft went into a precautionary condition called "safe mode. The cause has been determined to be a solid state power switch that was tripped due to a galactic cosmic ray hit."

Very interesting, it's very possible that there is life on Titan. Sooner or later these scientists are going to have to come out about their theories and/or what they have found in this star system.

Titan can support living organisms/beings...no doubt!

I have beef with NASA...doesn't some of our tax money support their projects? Shouldn't we be able to see the information they have? It's like the big bad Wall Street in space! Soooooo greedy...... I get more info about space exploration from Chinese and Russian news media!

A galactic cosmic ray. . .that sound so cool! While we are imagining some aliens attempting to destroy our little recon tool, it's actually just some alien kids playing with their tv remote control.
