Recently had a brush with high tech in sports. Bought a new softball bat that was quite expensive. However, I ended up hitting balls 30-50 feet further than I had before. The bat was the only change. Should high technology items (carbon fibre bats, high tech golf drivers, carbon fibre tennis racquets with kevlar strings be allowed?

I was staggered by the improvement, but felt that I did not really earn it. I fear that sports may become the equivilent of Formula 1 racing were you could pretty much run anything and the teams with the most money were able to put so many exotic parts, systems, etc on their cars they almost never lost. Whoever has the money for the best equipment may win more than they would otherwise.

What do people think?
