We should rename this thread to:
Advice for life for people like West Point!

I agree that not all Americans are like West Point.

And thanks God for that.

As I see on the thread there is some open minded Americans and I know my neighors are a very good example of American people.

I really like my neighors!

Even though they live a mile away from me...

To bad that is the closest neighors I have.

Well atleast i can have a mile fun(weapons) before I hit my neighbors!

Actually the quote is "the only easy day was yesterday" and that is the motto of the US Navy SEALs. They made a sign that says that in big letters and put it on the grinder for all to see. The instructors also cheerfully remind you of that every day.

Nothing personal Westpoint but I've heard to many stories of people saying they came from a rough neighborhood. But just for the heck of it what city are you talking about. Does anybody know the Spetsnaz motto?

Heres a link to a nice spetsnaz page. It has history, training, weapons everything. Its really cool.
www.spetsnaz.com.br...

BTW if i'm correct then west point would have only graduated this year or last year so I doubt hes going to be an officer.

There are a couple of things that are important as they are being discussed here (IMHO):

First: Special Forces is a seperate enitity within the Special Ops community, we are under DOD, our perimeters or rules of engagement are dictated from the State Department...Individual teams that are sent to do a DA mission are not given free latitude on who to and not to kill. So if you are unhappy with our country's policy towards Terreorism then welcome to the club. But put the blame on those that are responsible,,,, your elected politicians in DC.

Second: West Point is a kid.. graduating from High School (I'm guessing) so other than some ROTC time he has zero military experience.. his only fault is he is patriotic and over zealous... any of you who have spend hard time in any of the services know that real training/experiences changes your outlook... very simply if you dont wise up you will die .. or drop out...

Observation: The poster is well done, and I like the message.. but the equipment the appearant kid is wearing can be bought in the US at most Army / Navy stores and the vintage AK base/ modified to sniper capbilites and silencer is functional but old style...

Spednatz training: I doubt if that is all of it, I know that there is training that is advertised and some that is not.. the unknown is the threat,,,
They do have a reputation for being hard-core and their government has taken a tougher stance ( than the US) to terreorism something that I agree with ... Hussian should of been executed the morning after (Moslim Style) the U.S. is just reaping what they have sown with the soft stance to terreorism.

if we took a tougher stand we would have people complaining we are too tough on them like this week the Supreme Court said all detainees at guantanamo can have trial hearings why are we treating animals like people giving them trial hearing we might as well give them an all paid cruise to the Bahamas.

Spetsnaz training is actually highly illegal.
If you think milling in the paras is bad, this is just plain wrong...
Recruits are hazed pretty much 24/7 for a heck of a long time (I'm not exactly sure on duration), which is just phyiscally bullying and serious sleep depervation leading to a lack of virtually any serious mental capacity, then they are remoulded from that..
The thing aout Spetsnaz is that they are over 10000 strong... and all trained to a level comparable with the SAS/SBS, and then you need to include their fighting arts training, trained to kill with pretty much anything, shovel, pen, etc...
as the spetsnaz.com.br website says in one of it's sections, they have no perception about the geneva convention, there was a specific quote about the ambulance, the cross only made it a bigger target..

i read from a book of an ex-SAS soldier that (atleast) during the cold war, the spetsnatz troops's skills highly exaggerated. ill write the whole thing here when i get home.

Speaking of which.

Russian is it the Spetnatz that practices the blood pinning? With the violent insertion of medals or pins awarded to a new recruit.

BTW Excellent poster.

And for the record I'm an American and I feel patriotic but I hate when WestPoint turns these threads into another "Whos can piss the farthest"

Its annoying and not the side of America that needs to be displayed.

Now hopefully Russian can have his thread back.

Westpoint your arrogance is sickening, and it has soft mostly white middle class neighborhood written all over it. Come out to Desert Hot Springs and say hi to me sometime. Russian is invited too (this way I'll have somebody to drink with after you get shot by some tweaker who doesn't like you poppin off at the mouth.)

You think you'll make it at West Point!? You wouldn't make it at MCRD, and that place isn't 1/3 as hard as it should have been! People like you spent a lot of time getting screwed for everybody elses mistakes, to break their spoiled individualist attitude. On top of that, they got busted twice as hard for their own mistakes because this was their first exposure to discipline. You'd quickly end up under the harshest squadleader, to ensure that your ass got beat when you screwed the platoon. By all odds you wouldn't change, which means one of 3 things. 1. You'd break down crying and refuse to train, and after they were done scarring the crap out of you they'd send you back to live with your parents and work at McDonalds. 2. If you didn't fail on your own, somebody would help you fail at the rifle range, to get you out of the platoon. 3. The DI's would keep docing you until they got cleared to ship you back in training with another platoon. And you know what... I know this is going to be hard for you to cope with... but you're going to get hit. A LOT. Unless the army is CASTRATED far beyond anything I could imagine, you will get hit. Try not to cry.

I can't even put this into words. I can't change you, and even though being mean to you is almost fun in a really sad kind of way, what I really wish I could do is fix your sad little mind. All I can say is stand the F*** by. They WILL get through to you at the point, and you had better be ready to change.

My brother has a lot of respect for the Spetznaz. He was in the RAF Regiment, all though they arn't considered 'Special forces' their role to protect airfields and other military bases from external assault both from the air and from the ground puts them in the 'specialist' category.

What are they called in the UK? Cause the Australian equivalent of that (RAAF Air Defence Guard) from what I've heard don't seem to get much respect even though they do that anti SF stuff.

Jessica Lynch is further distinguished because the situation which gained her fame was the result of BAD CONDUCT (poor care of her weapon) which reflects the lax attitude of soldiers as compared to Marines, especially in reserve units. Realize that in the good old days of war at sea, even on pirate ships, poor care of a weapon was A FLOGGING OFFENSE. Jessica Lynch, by all rights, ought to be flogged. (she's just cute enough that I'll volunteer to do the flogging too).

And with the whole Lynch thing, I reckon had it been a male who did what she did he would have been court martialed for cowardice and that and it wouldn't have been such a big media blowout.

Anyway with the Spetsnaz. From the stuff I've read they sound like real tough bastards. I read in a book that they really love their hand to hand combat and because of that kickarse at it. Was it Spetsnaz who did the Theatre seige or was the Alpha and Beta groups who conducted the operation? Or are the Alpha and Beta Groups part of the Spetsnaz?

wow.
anyone else wants to jump on the ban wagon yay bash west point. let me tell you I could care less what you say and I will make it at west point the last time I heard the army doesn't want some gun shy innocent fool who wouldn't shoot at people even if they were going to kill him so you cant tell me I need to change my attitude cuz its just who i am!

Westpoint, my guess is the Army wants intelligent officers who can at least make use of full-stops throughout their paragraphs.

By the way, I remember seeing a documentary about the Spetsnaz on TV titled (for uninitiated public mainstream) "Inside the Russian SAS". It was an excellent documentary that I even taped but lost somehow. One scene had them doing weapons practice and I was kinda shocked to find their instructor still referring to Americans as "the capitalists". I'm pretty sure it was made in the 90's which is why it struck me as odd.

It's people like Westpoint that make America so ignorant..
You have no perception for other people's cultures, you've been brought up in one of the worst schooling systems in the world (in developed countries) and been taught that America is Number 1, America always wins, if it wasnt for America then the world would fall apart.
Well, we have news for you
America has been around for 200 years, and was one of the biggest mistakes ever. Your nation was built on the massacaring of thousands of native Indians, who continue to live under your darn suppression.
If you want to make a good officer, a heart-felt suggestion, spend a year going around the world. See other cultures, learn the basics of other languages, and most importantly, dont spend any time at all eating in MacDonalds, Burger King, 'The Little Chef' or other American fast food restuarants. Learn to respect others!

Jesus dude, you need to take a step back from this one and think a while ! West Point is undoubtedly slightly immature in the way that he posts and some of his views are not prsented very well, however, instead of merely mocking him, how about a little constructive criticism ?!

Secondly, America is not largely ignorant, they are a nation of patriotic, moral based individuals who make up the largest, if slighly flawed, democratic country on this earth. Yes they have their faults as does every nation, but its your kind of sweeping statements that bring about nasty arguments on this board.

Finally, your comment regarding the thousands of Native American Indians needlessly killed or moved to "reservation" I agree wholeheartedly, a disgraceful episode in the history of their newborn country. HOWEVER ! It pales into insignificance compared to the genocide and atrocities that the United Kingdom conducted in the construction of our Empire, basically subjugating most of the then, third world nations and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of innocent people, all in the name of the monarchy and the empire !
