Hurray, the Democratic brand of evil politician is out of power and we have voted in...

those same Republicans who were screwing up everything for 6 years before the Ds took power.

Yesterday, I stepped inside the voting booth hoping to have send a message to the government. To my dismay, when I stepped inside that voting booth, I beheld a most disheartening sight; about eight lines of offices needing to be filled and only the two establishment parties to choose from in each one.

I let out a groan as I looked upon the dismal sight before me, so loud that the election monitor checked on me to make sure I hadn't puked all over the voting machine. (he even had a rag in hand to clean off the machine, so I guess its not an uncommon response. Note to self; remember to wear gloves when you vote next time.)

Not one single 3rd party candidate to choose from.

I looked down the list of cookie cutter politicians, held my nose and did what most Americans do on election day; I chose the lesser of two evils.

So now our nation has switched from Evil brand D to Evil brand R; just as evil as the other guys but more appealing to at least half of the voting masses. Maybe they learned their lesson after getting the boot last time but, who wants to lay odds on that?

Like I read in another excellent thread Evil brand R seems to have trouble remembering that this nation's capitol is in Washington DC, not Tel Aviv. Does anybody really think that the warmonging, privacy intruding and loose spending Evil brand Rs are gonna turn a new leaf and make any really positive change for this country or do you think they will just slow the push towards socialism while handing the country over to total corporate control?

With those idiots in charge for at least the next two years, I'm sure we can expect a full steam ahead approach to more and more intrusive national security measures and I won't be surprised to find that we have troops on the ground in Iran by next summer.

You would think that I could bask in the glow of regime change for at least one day but frankly, the whole new regime makes my stomach feel queasy. I've had a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach ever since I walked away from the polling place yesterday.

Hurray for regime change.

No, while I voted mostly Democratic I also voted for a few Republicans. I did my research and feel my vote was well thought out.

I did not vote outside the two major parties because that would have been a wasted vote.

I've also been keeping an eye on the Senate and House Channels to watch the big boys in action, since January 2010.

I am confident I voted in my country's best interest.

I've also read in the last year, quite a few political books covering various issues as well as surfed the internet.

But Sarah Palin is full of the Holy Spirit, and she's been very clear that these guys have all changed and arren't the same guys who tanked the entire monetary system two years ago. And these other guys - the tea Party guys - they're going to transform eveything and make it... free, I guess. Freedom. That's what this is about. Because we lost our freedom when the negro was allowed to put his stuff in the White House.

Freedom is a good thing, so I don't regret voting for it. I almost always try to remember to vote for freedom. This time around it was pretty easy because there were freedom loving grassroots, ordinary American Tea Partiers in the parking lot to remind me when I went to the polls. That was helpful.

Right there with you, brother. I threw my precious bit of democracy in the general direction of the hapless schmucks that I have decided are the lesser evil. They say there is no such thing as a wasted vote, that every vote counts; but no one I voted for is going to be making policy over the next 2-6 years.

I was seized with a vision of what is to come that I have outlined here.
It's perhaps a bit bleak, but I take comfort in it.

Careful. An informed voter is dangerous to the Imperialist National Government of the United States of America.

On the bright side, it is refreshing to see someone who took the time to research the available options, regardless of the letter at the end of their names and vote accordingly. Unfortunately, most of the people that went to the polls and voted will think they have done their duty and that duty is done with until next election year. I pray that you remain engaged with those that you voted for and those that you did not vote for.

An engaged electorate with competence is what is needed for the United States of America.

By the "same guys", I guess you mean the democrats since they controlled Congress since 06 right?

The President is not king. Legislation comes from Congress.

As I was reading through this I had to put the brakes on for a moment. I thought this was an old thread from 2008.

In all honestly, I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. With a super majority and a Dem. in the WH. These guys blew the trifecta by losing sight and by climbing on the Obama bandwagon. A bandwagon that now has three flat tires.

If the GOP does not stick to their initial goals in their Promise to America they will be held accountable in due time. Just like the dems. were held accountable for following Obama's every whim. Lets hope they all learn from the mistakes of the past. The people are pissed at the government and they are watching closely.

Time to reel in spending and time to repeal and rework healthcare reform. Hopefully on a smaller more manageable scale this time.

All eyes are on the GOP now and I am anxious to see what that can do.

The only thing I regret is Clifornia not passing Propisition 19. People are still blinded by fear and that is evident.

MOTF!

Man I agree 100%.

Most people here are not even letting the Republicans have 24 hours to enjoy the victory before hollering how much they suck. Atleast let them get sworn before claiming they are destroying the country.

The system is rigged. I couldn't stomach voting this time around. Anyone that thinks the republicans won't continue to spend like drunken sailors and push more wars while creating more intrusive privacy invasion laws, give your money to mega corporations and the ultra rich, attempt to gut the environment for monetary gain, and push for more war is just delusional at this point.

Of course the alternative was voting for the dems who are doing the same things I just listed. So...

Screw them all. I quit. I will just do my best to live and stay out of their way. There is zero point in me bothering any more.

The power is in the Senate and sorry to say, the Senate was an even split from 06 to 08. Cheney had the deciding vote and Bush had veto power. The Republicans owned the whole 8 years, and both recessions.

SURELY, MARK MY WORDS, that all of the middle-class folks who voted for the Republicans WILL REGRET their vote very soon. MARK MY WORDS. The wealthy thieves of the nation and their crew PLAYED you fools good AGAIN so that their party robs the middle-class BLIND. But THIS TIME they will RUN with the money, NO QUESTIONS, ITS FOR SURE THIS TIME!!! No digging out of this hole.

Nice work. The only ones who voted for the Repubs that wont regret it will be the conservative Christians who would have voted for the ROMANS and HITLER if he claimed to be a REPUBLICAN!!! They PLAYED the Christians BIG time also, but the Christians are so brainwashed from multiple angles that they are just too thick-skulled to see through their many layers of delusions. VERY SAD.

But the Christians are way too deluded to regret it, and they will always vote republican until their last breath. The repubs know they can count on their vote and the wealthy's votes.

SAD.

PITIFULLY SAD.

Wrong!!

The democrats held 51 seats including the two independents which caucused with the Democrats.
Get your facts straight before spewing your revisionist history.

This may be the only good thing to come out of this election. All the newly awoken people who voted will realize in two years when nothing changes that voting is futile and the system is hopelessly corrupt .
