FBI Raids Home of Chicago SEIU Leader in International Terrorism Sweep

One might think it would be big news that a Chief Steward for a Local chapter of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is being investigated by the FBI for possible connection to overseas terror networks. Apparently, though, several Chicago news outlets didn’t see a reason to add this little fact to their stories. And even if it wasn’t big news that the FBI is investigating a union member, one would think that his profession would at least make an appearance somewhere in properly formulated coverage of the story… right?

Over the weekend the FBI announced that it was investigating Joseph Iosbaker for possible connections to overseas terror groups. Iosbaker and his wife Stephanie Weiner, both anti-war activists, are suspected of activities “concerning the material support of terrorism.”

gatewaypundit.firstthings.com...

UPDATE — Gateway Pundit makes a huge catch. Looks like the FBI recently also raided the home of an SEIU leader for possible connections to overseas terrorist groups:

Over the weekend the FBI announced that it was investigating Joseph Iosbaker for possible connections to overseas terror groups. Iosbaker and his wife Stephanie Weiner, both anti-war activists, are suspected of activities “concerning the material support of terrorism.”

The Chicago news has been all over the demonstrations that left-wing groups have mounted in Chicago to protest the FBI’s investigation of the anti-war activists. These stories are filled with all sorts of facts, dates and names. But in a significant handful of stories one little fact seems to have escaped the notice of these hardnosed journalists. Iosbaker is an SEIU union member. And not just a rank and file member but an official.

According to the SEIU Local 73 website, Iosbaker is listed as the Local 73 Chief Steward. Iosbaker was also quite active earlier in the year protesting the closing of the Republic Windows & Doors factory that made the national news. Iosbaker was then listed as an executive board member of the SEIU.

I can't copy and paste from a flash presentation
but it does state that the author WILL get paid
royalties on the book and the expenses for the
book will be paid for by SEUI.

Reid had the best ground game in the nation, and every knowledgeable pundit made note of that fact. As far as polling is concerned, I live in Ohio and the phone has been ringing off the hook for two months now. If it's an 800 number, we ignore it. We don't talk to pollsters and lots of people screen them out. Yeah, the GOP won here, but the right-leaning Ohioans ignored their phones too. No one really knew what was going to happen here until it happened.

Sharon Angle won't overturn this result. The call on the field generally stands unless the margin is so narrow as to require a recount. This isn't 2000. The GOP will get squished if they try that kind of strong-arm crap anymore. People saw what came as a result of thit bullsh*t in FLA, and God help any organized effort to do that again. Those Tea Baggers may think that they're 5 feet thick, but it only takes a few to go down hard to scatter the rest of them. They may be motivated, but they aren't heroic.

When did Angle ever have better polling numbers than Reid? I don't know what polls you all read, but Angle was ALWAYS trailing Reid in every poll I saw.

oh and let's not forget the unions and casinos
of Vegas who literally forced employees to vote
for Reid if they wanted to keep their job. And
they have been checking to see just which
employees voted. That is illegal

And bending the rules, too. On election day there were reports that casino giant Harrah's had worked with the Reid campaign and the unions, particularly the Culinary Workers Union, to herd virtually all unionized employees to early voting stations to vote for Reid. According to a report in National Review Online, one Reid staffer told Harrah's officials that he would do anything -- for emphasis, he wrote it ANYTHING -- to get those workers to the polls.

By mid-day Tuesday, the Nevada Republican Party had filed a complaint with the Secretary of State's office. "Employees' votes were being tracked and supervisors were instructed by top management to personally confront employees to find out why they had not voted," the complaint said. "Further, the evidence shows that Harrah's management has continually communicated to employees their concern with electing Harry Reid and not just to ensure that the employees voted for the candidates of their choice." Such conduct, the complaint argued, violates Nevada law.

sure any nutcase or criminal can get
elected when you threaten employees
with losing their jobs.

and please note that that suit was filed by
the Reps by mid-day on Tuesday, election
day even before the winner Reid was announced.

I hate people who type in capitals as though it makes what they are saying more important or more correct.

Reid didn't require voting fraud to win - it's much like how Ike Skelton held his seat for so long, here in Missouri despite being an overwhelmingly conservative/republican district with virtually no support from large cities (typically progressive/democrat). Skelton was a fairly influential person in Congress rather early on and got into some fairly important positions with the Armed Forces Committee. Replacing him meant losing that influence.

Of course - with the GOP pretty much guaranteed to take the house this cycle, it was very possible Skelton would be replaced, anyway (despite being what I would consider a sensible democrat). He trailed by about five percentage points this cycle. It also didn't help that he voted for a few pieces of legislation that are really jumping around to bite democrats in the rear this cycle.

I don't necessarily like the lady who will be replacing him. Her campaign was far too attack-focused for my liking - that signified, to me, she was playing the tea-party card out of strategy and not due to her character. But that is me.

However, I believe you are simply too loud for your own good. If you think the "tea party" is fragile - you're sorely mistaken. The "tea party" is the internet and social network. You could target a few figureheads like Hannity, Beck, etc - but it's such a localized ordeal that you couldn't touch the actual movement. Turn on your local radio stations. Even if you are in the middle of the most liberally insane region of the country - there is someone out there reporting events and asking: "Is this really what we want out of our government?" Some are very small - others somewhat larger and part of regional radio networks.

Those are the heart and soul of the "tea party" - figures like Hannity and Beck are merely a national identifier. The real movement is amorphous - it has no centralized leadership or even a base of candidates. You can't kill it. You can't jam or spoof it. It's people waking up and realizing they cannot just cast a vote and trust that everything will be okay in Washington.

I encourage you to watch this "tea party" very carefully through these next six years. They made a big push this election cycle and will settle down a bit to see what the results are, and will watch this new congress very, very carefully. They will watch it even more closely than this previous congress. And you can bet that by the end of spring, their voices will start to rise again.

It's not a voting movement. That is where so many people have mischaracterized it - it's not a "let's vote for this person" movement that loses purpose. For the first time in a very, very long time - people are demanding certain actions out of their government - and more shockingly, that it be reduced in size. It doesn't end at the ballot. It didn't start with the ballot.

But you are more than welcome to believe it is a fragile movement. It will not change the course of events.

I didnt ask you for anything, what are you talking about? Get your facts correct as I was just commenting on your little OBSOLETE link to which PROVES nothing other than you are DESPERATELY trying to support this NONSENSE.

Typical right-wing ways that really shouldnt surprise me anymore.

obsolete??
what is obsolete is the fact that
politicians and TPTB are manipulating
elections for an agenda and think we the people are
stupid enough to not see what is happening.

And your post called me a right-winger Tea Partier
by insinuation.

So should I stoop to your level and call you a
Gov or Democratic shill? I will refrain from
such as your posts here are most obvious
on it's own merit.

There is a conspiracy here to commit
massive election fraud and it should be
investigated by the FBI. And if they don't
then somebody high in the Gov is pulling
their strings to pass it over like a hot potato.

You showed great restraint in not taking the bait from Jon.

I believe there was voter fraud, but then again, there is no law against stupidity.
