p2p software advice

(firstly, please don't discuss any illegal behaviour in this thread, as I'd rather it didn't get deleted)

For awhile, I have been using Limewire as my p2p software. However, a few days ago, due to legal issues, they have shut down due to a court order, until/if they resolve their issues. (They have been accused of purposely facilitating copyright infringement)

So, my question is, what p2p software are people using out there these days? While it isn't strictly p2p, The Freenet Project looks rather interesting to me. Anyone have any experience with that?

Crazy... I'm glad I never used a single service, stopped using limewire a looong time ago due to all the fake crap on it, bit torrent all the way. Never been let down yet getting my linux ISO's... Oo

Looks like limewire are going the same way as the original napster and mini-nova - offering pay for downloads.

All I can say is bit torrent.

Edit - Im referring to the technology not the client. I agree with the person below, uTorrent is the client to use if you do end up going to bit torrent.

uTorrent is a really good program. Small, flexible, and no imposed slowdowns if you do not share (like bittorrent has)

Not a bad program at all, specially for being free

Torrents is a much faster way to get stuff.

BitTorrent is a little bit on the old side
A lot of people are going back to newsgroup servers at this point

I'll take a look at uTorrent, thanks for the suggestion. Newsgroups also seem to work fairly well; my ISP has one, and my dad uses that a lot, but ours limits the number of connections you can have to it, and my dad often has the maximum connected so that he can download stuff faster, so I'd be somewhat limited in when I could use it.

I recommend Vuze. It's easy to use and will convert stuff for you too.
