Okay without much ado at all the debates started a bit ago. The BBQ thread on it doesn't have much discussion on the topics and within the debates themselves, observers cannot interfere.

So I thought that if any of those 8 first round debates roused a feeling you want to discuss, here is a place you can talk, trash, whatever about them.

On the topic of "Will Judaism, Christianity, and Islam eventually achieve a peaceful reconciliation?",
I say not on your life.

There are more differences than just their respective opinions on Jesus. They also have included in their religions everything that men have added to the dogma over the centuries.

I'm not debating here and neither are you, so that is just my opinion.

Any opinions on the debates you want to air?

Round 1. Skyfloating vs Rising Against: You should have seen it in Monotone

Round 1. OzWeatherman vs Getreadyalready: Heavenly Peace,

Round 1. Chissler vs saltheart foamfollower: Please call if you're going to be late

Round 1. orange-light vs ProtoplasmicTraveler: What Does that Sign Say?

Round 1. KrazyJethro vs ModernAcademia: Self Preservation By Proxy?

Round 1. MemoryShock vs Hotbakedtater: Language of Love

Round 1. wormwood13 vs Airspoon: Cook Wanted (Must Love Dogs).

Round 1. Whatukno vs LordBucket: The Fountain of Incredibly Old

If any of the upcoming second round debates make you want to reply or vent, then here is fine too.
I just thought opening up a place to do so would be nice.

I have no particular opinions to share quite yet on the debates..

but I did want to chime in here and say that I like the idea behind this thread and give it a

I also think it would be a good thing if you added links to the debates here, so when opinions are given other readers can easily source the material and form thier own...

Nice idea for a thread, hopefully if everyone comes to this one, all the great and important information won't be lost.

Anyway, in regards to the debates, I have to admit, they are sooooooooo much fun!!!

I actually just have my closing statement left now and I'm officially finished.
:wow

Does anyone know how long judging should be as well out of curiosity?

ETA: I posted a link to this thread in the debate sign up thread.

I am interested in the debates.

You have mentioned, "Will Judaism, Christianity, and Islam eventually achieve a peaceful reconciliation" This is a good question.

Also "The Fountains of Incredibly Old" this is a good and interesting topic. No telling how this one will turn out.

"Self Preservation by Proxy" sounds interesting but, I don't think they have started yet.

Another one that is interesting and seems knowledgeable is "What does that sign say?"

Looks as though it will be an interesting tournament.

Thank you Debate Forum

Thank you and yeah, I agree, It's such a fun little topic, lol.

I definitely love the serious topics though tbh, but it's admittedly nice to argue over a light hearted one for a change.

thanks for the thread

maybe we should start talking about the round 1 debates after the judging has been done.
so no influence is taken

i have to admit that i utterly enjoy debating - i have always loved it - but this time it is more than pleasant
the topics of all are awesome - so thanks to the mods for choosing them

I understand about the judging, but what would the judges be good for if any opinions they might read would sway them?
I chose BTS for that reason too. It is off topic and looser, and kind of like (for the debates) standing in the lobby during intermission of a play and simply discussing it.

Phew, the very first debate of this year’s competition is now over!!

Round 1. Skyfloating vs Rising Against: You should have seen it in Monotone

Here's the link for anyone to read over once more and off to the judges we go.

I'm nervous as hell but I can't wait to find out what they say.
