Amazing portrait of the sun

These stunning portraits of the sun spread like hot plasma all over the internet yesterday. Wired.com spoke with artist and astrophotographer Alan Friedman to find out how he made it.

Seeing the sun in hydrogen-alpha filter just got me thinking.What is it and why.
Yes I did a search did not see anything like this.

Sorry if these shots have been posted before,but none the less the interview with Alan Friedman on how he produced these images is fascinating.

Wowza S&F. It also has the feel, to me, of an electron-microscopic view of something amazingly tiny. Bringing to mind the theory of smaller and smaller into infinity becoming larger and larger into infinity.Repeat.

It does look like something small.How ironic because in the whole universe it is small.
How lucky us, we get to see it up close.

How awesome is that.......Makes you feel insignificant, a tiny drop in the ocean we call the universe.

Imagine if there were conscious beings living in our bodies, how vast and enormous would our bodies seem to them... Now, think about how we view the universe and our size in relation... What if the sun is simply another microscopic object in relation to even LARGER things and the universe in microscopic in relation to something larger etc.. etc... As is above, so is below..

Place the pictures in the OP amongst the ones in THIS LINK and see if they could tell the difference between it being our Sun or just another picture of a cell.

I've heard that water comes from suns...It is ejected into space during flares...Where else would it come from? Some say, oh...from comets...Ok, where did comets get their water? Nassim Harramein believes this also.

AMAZING! Hats off to Flyingfish for getting this article on the board. Mr. Friedman's telescope, aptly named "Little Big Man" did a wonderful job in living up to its name and giving us an alternate view of the Suns incredible presence in our backyard. I have never seen the Sun in this kind of light. Pun intended! Great job
