The Brits did it with Australia, so I think Mars would make a great prison colony...don't you?

Yeah you go down in history, but that could be as the person who tried to get to Mars and did'nt make it. Im sure they'd have some parade for you but that wont bring you back from the dead.

I suppose if you did make it. You could declare yourself King or Queen of mars untill the others arived. The boredom and sense of isolation would probably send you mad though. Theres only so many martian sand castles you could build. Although there would be plenty of space to play some baseball or whatever.

That is what Im thinking as well.

just saw on the news that they are planning a voyage into space in what they are calling a '100 year starship'
it was leaked recently by the NASA head, but the program is being funded by DARPA. link below
