It's good to see they are approaching this a bit more realistically by using the idea of a deadly flu pandemic instead of the worn out 'killer asteroid' premise.

I'm always a bit wary of drama documentaries though so I doubt I'll watch it. I'll have to pop back here and check out your review first

Cheers for the heads up.

Sounds a little bit like the series 'Survivors'. Loved that.

Well that was a good watch.

Probably a lot there that we could all work on as far as preps are concerned, but initialy the first things that obviously spring to mind are...

Water.

Food

Toilet proceedure if there is no sewage system.

Meds.

Thats just going on the basis that you can bug in at home and can avoid the looters.

I'm fine for the top two, well i could do bit better with food, but i'm fine for at least a month or so. Meds i'm not so sure. I have plenty of common cold meds and stuff for the family (allergy meds and the likes) Plenty of first aid gear. Its the antibiotics i'm not sure about.

I have plenty of bottles of clove oil for things like toothache. Tons of anti bacterial hand gel. I have lots of salt too, for cooking and hygeine, so that should keep some of the bugs at bay.

One thing that came from the programme that we would have difficulty here in the UK with, is weapons. Being as invisible as possible so you won't need to use them will be the best option. Failing that, you get inventive.

It was a good eye opener for people that have no idea about how quick society structure with break down. It dealt with a lot of issues that many would rather try to forget.

The biggest thing for me that i got from the film was "water". WATER WATER WATER! I have pleny at home in containers, i am still looking into getting a large container and i have a filter thats good for 100,000 litres. My kids will not die of thirst on my shift.

I've heard some say it's not the best documentary on how to survive, but i liked it for what it was.

Im seriously thinking of investing in a couple of air rifles and maybe a air pistol, non of those gas powered ones though , cock action only and buy enough pellets to see off a small army. I believe you can purchase antibiotics from online pharms from india/thailand etc. I know a guy who regularly buys his valium and has them shipped to the uk so maybe i'll ask him about reputable pharms that stock penicillin etc, ill report back, probably not allowed to post the links but if you u2u me im sure ill share the details with you.

Watching that program really made me want a gun. If that scenario ever arose, the gun is going to be your only defence. I live in a rural area and I know there are people with guns and I dont want to be one of their slaves.

I would hope that living in a rural community I would be in a better position than those in cities. I would hope the community could join together and share the resources.

definitely makes you think!

I envy you living in a rural community, your probably best to stick together if you can and help each other, be quite frank and honest with them initially and you might be suprized with there human kindship in the face of adversity. Living in the city like i do im not looking forward to it at all to be honest, im going to scout out some remote places using google earth, mark each one out of 10 and then visit my top 5 places to see what its like in reality in a hope that i actually have a plan and somewhere to head for that i am familar with and know me and my family will be safe there for the forseeable future, i am allready looking at air rifles.
