Faking News: CIA Assets in the Newsroom

You may think that US journalists are working for who they say they are working for. But then you never know.

Unfortunately many have been revealed to have been working for the CIA during the Cold War. Even more important, the CIA and other US intelligence agencies were able to control the news by having assets in positions of power in US newsrooms, such as newspaper editors and high level managers.

Journalists, shocked to hear that a practice most thought had been banned was in fact still permitted, were not mollified by Deutch's assurances that the CIA "will not use journalists…American journalists, except under, very, very rare circumstances." Louis Boccardi, president of the Associated Press, and Tom Johnson, president of CNN, met with Deutch and asked him to pledge publicly that he would never call on journalists to gather information clandestinely for U.S. intelligence services.

Is this really surprising? Just about every government has some degree of control and manipulation in regards to what the MSM covers in their country. Of course, in some government systems the control is significantly more evident, an obvious example would be the Weimar Republic.

It's all about damage control and maybe a little more.

The only thing that makes me sick about any of this, is that people still believe what they are told by media outlets, rather than investigating for themselves, or even thinking deeply about what is really happening in the world.
I know for instance, that when I watch the BBC I have to sift out all the propegandism from thier broadcasts, and look at the facts alone, without the opinionated prattling of the guest speakers, or the newscasters for that matter, getting in the way of the truth. The BBC have some skill at thier job, and so you have to be very careful to sift out as much non factual material as possible from any report given, and learn to check the figures of any statistic they utter very carefuly before forming opinions and views surrounding the stories they report.
In the US however, newscasters are BLATANT in thier propegandist activities, often using language which would give away to a TEN YEAR OLD that they arent being impartial or for that matter, being very interested in the truth.
Why the hell does america even bother watching the news, or buying newspapers. You could get a less biased opinion from virtualy ANY western media than from American news. Its been a cesspit of deception and BS for decades and more!!
The headline here shouldnt be, "Oh Crap, Journalists Are CIA Y'all!". Instead the headline should be "America Still Has Wool Firmly Over Eyes" or maybe " US Utterly Indifferent To Lies, Will Believe Anything CNN Says" or even better " Americans Incapable Of Giving A Crap About The Truth" .
