Only one area actually. The helicorders are all showing the Mag 7.7 (USGS), 7.5 (EMSC), 7.2 (Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika - That is the Indonesian service.).

It made them all ring and brought the total of 7+ to 26 for the year.

The volcano has been pushing out lava on the south western flank for some time now. It has not exploded, but yes it has erupted if you count lava flows as an eruption.

The feeling is that there is going to be an explosive eruption because the conduit is believed to be blocked which is why earlier it was exhibiting the unusual twin ash plume.

Will this effect New Zealand by any chance.

A tsunami has already hit Australia, 3 meters high, but I don't know any more than that:
Indonesian tsunami sweeps Aussie surfers into jungle

Certainly we have altered pressure on tectonic plates when we build in highly concentrated and dense forms such as cities and dams with all the water above, but what about our draining of aquifers and oil fields? We are told Nature Abhors a vacuum..... and today I read an article on the Ogalalla aquifer having been drained by a large amount since the 1930's and just wondered..... are we creating large empty spaces under our feet as well as building concentrated masses above ground? I understand the giant Chinese dam is creating earthquakes periodically.

Unlikely to affect NZ since no Tsunami Warning was issue for Oz, in other words there was no tsunami. Even the article linked to actually states that.

Hey that thread sure will be interesting to read, cos i swear ive read another one hear that shows an increase in disasters etc, thought i think it was earthquakes only. not sure.

I think i would say my natural instict is to notice that their has been a gradual rise, since maybe 5-10years back, and i think to myself i have been just as keen on these event then too, but cant tell for sure.

It may be true that news coverage has been greater, but surely doesnt that correlate to whats actually been happening?

Though i do think after the huge Icelandic volcano incident, volcaoes will be remaining in the top spot of interest in disaster stories from an MSM pov.

The tsunami didn't hit Australia, it hit Indonesia ... it was Australian surfers in Indonesia that were washed up onto shore.

Never a nice thing to happen to you while you're on holidays ...

Well early this am I did read something which stated there were no warnings as of that time for Austrailia, and i kind of thought huh? So the patterns must be moving the waters in that direction or something.

yeah all I can see is white...well more greyish. I cant make details out of anything.
At first I thought my page wasn't loading correctly, but since you mentioned ash I'm questioning what I'm actually looking at.

I can see what appears to be clouds know so i know the feed is working

It's an area under the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and they're into monsoonal weather now. Satellite pics make it most likely cloud cover.
Here's the satellite pic from Australia: www.bom.gov.au...
if you look at the live view now you can see the cloud has lifted somewhat.

ugh, tried to reply, but ATS gave me a 404 error.

It didn't hit Australia, the Australians o/s in Indo were swept away, not here.

I don't mean to derail your thread here
but is that 2 UFO's in those clouds
or is it just dust on the lens?
Interesting, they're both the same
size and shape.
