I never knew there were other religons before Catholicism
. They did have a strong hold on politics, it was a big deal when England made their own church, and they did control the western world. Of course other cultures had their own religions, always have and always will.

Yes religions try to stiffle anything that goes against current dogma. I believe it was Kimball (sp?) of the Later Day Saints (Mormans) who had a 'divine vision' that black people were worthy to become Mormans only after the Supreme Court began to hand down anti-discrimination rulings. Galieo was locked away and theatened with torture unless he recanted his book stating the Sun was at the center of the solar system and not the Earth.

NOW THINK ABOUT THIS:

The US automakers for years used patents to block Saab's attempts to build an electric car.

ENTRENCHED AND LETHARGIC CORPORATIONS MAY BE AS BAD AS CHURCHES IN BLOCKING THE ADVANCEMENT OF HUMANITY.

Get Religion and Dinosaur Corporations out of the government and its making of laws and policies.

Absolutly! as well as many governments and other social institutions not unlike living organisims most institutions exist to survive , whether it's a corperation, religion, dose'nt matter. One classic example is the energy breakthroughs that the scientific community has been forced to shelf and abandon because the energy cartells are Oil companys and the auto manufacturing base in this country and others would have to retool productions lines to incorporate new energy sources. Of course they buy legislation and patents that insures potiential breakthroughs never see the light of day never get explored or applied commercially. It's all about the bottom line $$$$$$$$$$$
