The speed of light is a constant and is the same for all observers in a vacuum.

Speed of light
The speed of light, usually denoted by c, is a physical constant important in many areas of physics. Light and all other electromagnetic radiation always travel at this speed in empty space (vacuum), regardless of the motion of the source or the inertial frame of the observer. Its value is exactly 299,792,458 metres per second (approximately 186,282 miles per second).

If one more person gives me a Wikipedia link I'm going to scream. Come people. Get serious about your debate here.

To stereologist,

I'm done debating the issue of the constant speed of c. You are comparing apples and oranges and you don't even realize it. Space is not a void. Vacuum, yeah. Void, no. The constant speed of light in a vacuum is perfect for the laboratory as a benchmark or "yardstick" for gauging other variables that are subject to manipulation to the forces of the earth being electromagnetically charged and spinning at 2000+ miles per hour (the "inertia of the observer"). As far as I am aware, outer space is not empty. It is not void of dust, gas, large objects, black holes, etc., etc. etc....... Therefore, light's journey through the hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions of years and subsequently it's journey the inordinate amount of "stuff" in space IS EFFECTED by the these variables.
The following link is a paper issued by Dr. John Webb of the School of Physics, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. I am aware that he is a Theoretical Physicist and is a strong supporter of the string theory and a multi-dimensional universe thusly, making it seem counter intuitive for me to post this linking in the light of how hard I came down on Dr. Kaku. The difference between these two men is marked and I will not delve into the subject further than to say I respect Dr. Webb and his legitimate and open minded research far more then "The Infamous Dr. Kaku"....lol catchy! could be a super-villain....lol

As for the rest of you......I'm checking out of my own thread. I don't even care anymore. I was hoping to engage a different calibur of people that obviously I am not. I think I'll just stop posting here and go back to where, more often then not, REAL knowledge is debated. For those of you who would like some interesting reads by REAL P.h.Ds in the disciplines of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, and Astro Physics feel free to head over to the link listed below. It's a jumping off point. If you poke around you'll find a great wealth of REAL non-Wikipedia/non-youtube based information.

Well, actually, in real Universal time, we're about 13.7 Billion years out from the Big Bang. I tend to agree with your post, it seems like a lot of people have bought into 2012 without applying proper skepticism. It seems odd to me that many who accept 2012 reject other prophecies such as those within the Bible. It seems to me that accepting one sort of ancient mysticism over another is silly especially when neither system has proven valid. The Mayans may have been mathematical wizards but that doesn't mean they were wizards of the kind that can peer into the future.

I'm done debating the issue of the constant speed of c.

That's because you are wrong. Regardless of your arrogant misconceptions you are just wrong.

The constant speed of light in a vacuum is perfect for the laboratory as a benchmark or "yardstick"

Look who is comparing apples and oranges. The vacuum of the lab is no where near the vacuum of space. So please don't be so arrogant. It makes people look extra foolish.

Therefore, light's journey through the hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions of years and subsequently it's journey the inordinate amount of "stuff" in space IS EFFECTED by the these variables.

That's not the issue. The issue is the speed of light.

So here, no1elsebuttme being quite arrogant, makes light of an initial reference source, the wikipedia, and in its place submits an article that is not peer reviewed. Whoopee doo dah. The article makes reference to a number of ideas that assume that the speed of light has changed over time. Is there any proof of this? No. It's a theoretical assumption. The idea is that such an assumption could be used to explain facts observed in the universe? Is this a correct or even useful assumption? Only time will tell.

From the article:
Inflation and VSL theories are both attempts to explain various features of the universe – such as its apparent flatness – that cannot be explained by the Big Bang theory alone.

Did no1elsebuttme, being quite arrogant , understand the issue? Apparently not from what he wrote. That was no surprise to me.

It must be so fine to be smug and wrong at the same time.

I don't think you undestand that it is my stance that all these speculative unfalsifiable claims surrounding 2012 are absolute rubbish. I believe in data, observation, proper reasoning and logic.

I'm simply suggesting that by 2012, increased solar activity is a feasable possibility based on DATA. Go have a look into Solar Cycles.

I didn't mean to insult you, I'm on YOUR side. I won't believe these wacko claims without proper evidence, i simply stated a possibility, which is feasable given data provided by independant scientists with irrefutable facts of solar potential. Activity has been recorded in the 1900s and many electrical equipment and infrastructure was damaged. There is a threat that it could happen again, we still can't make absolute predictions regarding the Sun.

Objects from space ARE a threat to Earth, according to some studies there are threats in the near future 100-200 years from now, based on the data they CURRENTLY have.

Great video. Really clever to get the ideas out front plus your own theory tucked in at the end of the video, which just may make more sense than anything else said in the video.
