The reports detail 109,032 deaths in Iraq, comprised of 66,081 'civilians'; 23,984 'enemy' (those labeled as insurgents); 15,196 'host nation' (Iraqi government forces) and 3,771 'friendly' (coalition forces). The majority of the deaths (66,000, over 60%) of these are civilian deaths.That is 31 civilians dying every day during the six year period. For comparison, the 'Afghan War Diaries', previously released by WikiLeaks, covering the same period, detail the deaths of some 20,000 people. Iraq during the same period, was five times as lethal with equivallent population size.

That's 60% of the Total Deaths in Iraq being Civilians.

31 Civilians dieing each day. This is just the most ridiculous thing ever.

I cannot believe that the Pentagon doesn't know right from wrong.

I hate to say it, but I am ashamed of what we have become.

How I love ATS. I think the 7-11 down the road is selling clues.

How come the insurgents ALWAYS get a free pass on their behavior? Insurgent sets off a car bomb, kills women and children, yet it's the fault of the US. "Well, if the US wasn't there, it wouldn't have happened."

I guess that individual responsibility doesn't extent to some coward of an insurgent killing civilians. Of course, tho, it does extend to any US Troop.

Question for you: How is insurgents killing women and children "striking a blow against the US?" So far, not one person on ATS has an answer for that question.

All that death. All that pain, grief and misery. All for big oil and other multinational corporations. So they can make even larger profits, so that Wall street sociopaths can speculate and drive the price of oil up and make outrageous profit's. 911 was not done by two airliners and boxcutter weilding religious freaks. It was planned and accomplished with the full knowledge of your own government. I don't know if they did it or mossad did it, but many in the deepest, darkest halls of goverment made it happen and thousands died. Then, the push for war was easy. It was a black flag job. I hope we can separate the majority of the American people from it's hideous government and parasitic corporations. Most American's are good people. They don't want this. Time for change. Not bullshyte obama change. The real deal. Burn the mutha down!

Porbally would of had LESS civilian casulties if the muslim extremist didn't use SCHOOLS to hide in. Or use their own women and children as human body shields.....

Dude, it doesn't matter. ATS has already decided who's right and who's wrong.

Insurgents hide in mosques, hospitals, schools, etc. Fire on US troops. US troops return fire, and here on ATS, it's suddenly, "US forces willfully destroy civilian targets!!" LOAC, GC and the like are only for US forces to follow. Insurgents can willfully kill civilian with car bombs, murder, torture, whatever, and it's always, "Well, they wouldn't be doing that if US troops weren't there!"

Hmm I figured it would be alot higher than that. I think they have the enemy to civilian ratio screwed though. We didn't engage just plain civilians. Only the insurgents conducting insurgent activities. That whole number and ratio is fishy to me.

The thing is THERE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ANY CIVILIAN CASUALTIES.

People need to wake up, and notice all this loss of life is for absolutely nothing.

Dude, who started this war in Iraq? That's who is responsible for the killed civilians.

Unlike the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, this Iraq war has a clear aggressor and initiator of the war = U.S.A. (Bush)

*sigh* I posted a couple of the videos on my facebook page, as expected, got no reply, while prayers for the #ing yankee games being reposted over and over get 20+ replies. This is what we have to deal with, people praying over a stupid game while people are dieing and suffering all over the world. Aren't people great?

I am pretty sure we killed way more people with shock and awe than insurgents could even hope to kill. Do I think the insurgent's tactics are great? No, but you would have to be an idiot to try and take on a bunch of armies head on with the weapons and resources they have.
